August 11, 201015 yr That's ok by my book. This will allow them to make higher quality planes more quickly. Although I won't get to enjoy them this is good news for the community. JasonFAA CPL SEL MEL IR CFI-I MEI AGI
August 11, 201015 yr Ya, I guess it was only a matter of time, Im sure at some point all dev's will be fsx only.Too bad as an fs9 user, but there is still plenty for me to keep me occupied for a long time to come. The only thing im hoping for fs9 is that the IFLY 737 that is supposedly coming remains a fs9 fsx product as i am quite hyped for this add-on. Intel I7 12700KF / 32 GB Ram-3600mhz / Windows 11 - 64 bit / NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060TI / 32" Acer Monitor, Honeycomb alpha/bravo, CH rudder pedals, Tobii 5, Buttkicker, Logitech radio panel.
August 11, 201015 yr Too bad as an fs9 user, but there is still plenty for me to keep me occupied for a long time to come.I agree with the above, but I find the following quote from Carenado's announcement strange: "It is sad news for all our FS2004 customers and we sympathize with all of them, but our commitment with high quality and use of new techniques don’t allow delivering consistent products."They've done it in the past!.........Did they suddenly forget? An honest answer and reason would have gone down much better in my book. We're getting this excuse from more and more developers who have provided "quality" FS2004 products in the past.gwillmot
August 11, 201015 yr Sad news, I was really hoping for the Caravan... :( Onur K. Visit my FS blog: Clear Right...

August 11, 201015 yr Yes, that's a shame, but inevitable. I'm really glad they released the C-185 for Fs9, and I've got a hangar full of their planes to enjoy well into the foreseeable future. John G.
August 11, 201015 yr I've had a really hard time keeping with this hobby. The fact that no one develops anything anymore really upsets me, and the excuses that fly around are even worse. The developers put down FS9 all the time. I don't understand it, BOTH sims are dead ends, why support only one? The sims aren't exactly new either. Why leave out a whole group of people? Also, its the whole FSX vs FS9 that really gets me. A few months ago, there was a large debate about FSX and FS9. After reading that thread, I didn't play the sim for over three months. Surely, I am not the only one discouraged by this. Please don't take my post wrong, just venting if you will. Danny

August 11, 201015 yr One scenery publisher that returned to dual products was Aerosoft. While released apart, they started making FS9 vesions available after the release of FSX ones. It depends on the specific product.
August 11, 201015 yr No more Carenado for me then.Me too!I have invested too much in fs9 (including buying all the Carenado aircraft) to move to FSX and I suspect that I am not alone with that view. Shame nevertheless as they were amongst the best. I am sure this decision has primarily been driven by financial considerations, but I can't help thinking that there are still a lot of serious fs9'ers out there whose purchases they are going to miss out on!BillWindows XP Pro SP2; Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 3.0Ghz CPU; Arctic Cool 7Pro; ASUS P5N-E-SLI Motherboard; 4GB Corsair 800Mhz DDR2 RAM; 768MB nVidia GeForce 8800GTX Dual VGA Graphics card; 2x 500GB SATA 7200RPM Hard Drive; 650W (2 x 12V) PSU; 2x 1000GB Western Digital External Hard Drive; 150GB Western Digital External Hard Drive; CH Pro Yoke and PedalsAll powering 272GB of fs9 escapism!
August 11, 201015 yr Will someone please enlighten me as to the 'financial' considerations that go into making (or not making) an addon for a particular platform? I must not be getting it...I was always under the impression that these aircraft and sceneries were created by a developer from scratch? So, it isn't like they are 'putting money into' a given project....just 'time'. Time, and effort. So, what it boils down to, is that the developer no longer feels that the FS9 community is worth his or her 'time' or 'effort' to produce a product. I guess 'time' really IS money.......And to say that a developer cannot produce aircraft for one platform (fs9) that are 'quality'??? How about the last 4 or 5 releases, Carenado? The BEST GA AIRCRAFT I HAVE IN MY HANGAR for FS9. Biiig whooop. No bloom, bumpmaps, rivets, 3d knobs. WHO CARES! Ever since FSX came around, the FS2004 Carenado aircraft have jumped in quality significantly! ...But, this is a decision made by carenado, and is to be respected. Thank you for all of the fine aircraft, sorry for blowin' off steam here...
August 11, 201015 yr But, this is a decision made by carenado, and is to be respected. Who says it has to be respected, we just have to deal with it nothing more...
