Externalities and the NGX

Regarding the POSKY member's earlier claims (I don't know who he is since he didn't sign his name):1. Vortex generators - these are a retrofit package kit that are available for *any* NG. It may be true that no airline has ordered this kit without also ordering the eyebrow plugs (both are designed to reduce cockpit noise), but that doesn't mean it's impossible to do - you could call up and order it for an eyebrow NG right now, it is not tied to the presence or lack of eyebrow windows. They come standard on new non-eyebrow NGs.2. Pitots - they match our photos from the airplane we surveyed and they match the engineering information - we're convinced the angle is correct.3. AoA indexers - there are four different types of AOA indexers approved for use on the NG and yes, one of them does go vertical. That's the one that was on the aircraft we surveyed and it's what we modeled.
My name is Nick Wilkinson.. ex-POSKY modeler.I know it's part of the eyebrow window removal package, but what I'm getting at is no airline (from what I've seen) has installed vortex generators on a NG with eyebrow windows (For the F/O above who claimed to have thousands of hours on the type, please REREAD what I had said... NG's with eyebrow windows = no vg's, NG's without eyebrow windows = has vg's) The reason I brought it up was because it's not very realistic nor accurate to make just 1 model with every single option available as PMDG has a history of only making 1 aircraft of a type, instead of a full range for users to select specific details. It's just like the wingfold option that Boeing once offered on 777's that no airline ordered... The pitot tube-- I stand corrected, they do have a downward angle... on the pictures on the first page, the pilots side appears to be an upward angle (common when mirroring an object on the wrong axis) so that one might want to be looked at if it hasn't already.. Edit: I went back to the first page and adjusted the settings on my monitor and determined that it is modeled correctly, the angle of the shot and contrast on my TV gave the appearance that the pitot tubes where inverted.. I had to zoom in quite a bit to see I was wrong (referring to the straight on nose shot). And as far as the AoA vanes.. that's why I said IIRC... I worked around so many aircraft it's very easy to get minor things switched around...Anyways, don't think I'm trying to nitpick on every little detail.. POSKY is dead, I don't model any more, and we never were competitors (since POSKY was free). All I'm getting at is PMDG has a high level of quality, but they usually only do 1 model of a particular aircraft type, which doesn't leave much room for external model accuracy for many airlines.

Nick. If you had read the updates you will see that PMDG are offering options that can be selected through the fmc for these things.

I'm not going to shift through 27 pages for a product I am not buying (not meaning any offense, I'm just not into MSFS anymore).. I was merely stating my observations..Though I still look at that one picture and my eyes still at first glance try to tell me the pitot tubes are wrong.. I have to stare at it to see it correctly, it's a bad illusion.

Nick,Virtually every option we've modeled is selectable through the FMC's options pages - this is absolutely not one static version of the airplane we're doing. We're not going to make eyebrow windows force the VGs to disappear because Boeing literally told us that is a valid combination someone *could* do. I realize it's unlikely anyone has actually done that, but we don't know that for sure and besides it's all configurable anyway - people can do whatever they want with them.

Captains,I'm sorry to say that I just deleted about 2 dozen posts in this thread because the poster did not sign with their full name. Full name means first and last name. First name only is not a full name. Last initial is not a full name. Signing every post with your full name is a requirement in the PMDG forum, and we thank you for your continued effort in adhering to this rule. Thank you.And just so you don't think I'm being too hard on you all, here's a gratuitous shot the PMDG 737NGX getting ready for pushback from PMDG's newly commandeered spaces at Orbx's Melbourne International YMML.
Just out of curosity, where did get that little man in a safety jacket and the Van from, i bought this add on when it first came out and I dont have ground services on it.AdnanSomewhere near YMML
I can't even look at the default aircraft now, keep up the good work!
AGREE!! I flew the default 737 the other day and I had to smack myself. First time flying a default aircraft in a LONG time. I can't believe Microsoft let this crap through. The wheels are blocks. They are not round!

What are your FSX settings at - that might require a higher slider on the Scenery Complexity or something like that. I'd also make sure you have the latest version of the scenery - they've been updating them with their TextureFlow, ObjectFlow and PeopleFlow techs...

oh my god .. I can not wait. I'm going crazy.e3vf.gifGreetings, Stefan Z.

Hello everybody, This is my first time ever posting something in a forum, I m sorry for my english but is not perfect. The main reason that forced me to post something in here was This beautifull BIRD. Congratulations for the hard work that you are all performing. I just love the way the exterior model is turning out to be, like The Wings, the engines, landing gears, ailerons, flaps, cabin windows, fuselage but the Nose or the Face of this magnificent BIRD. It is almost perfect like the real deal, But in my own personal opinion i think that there are some small details here and there, that might need to be adjusted or corrected, I think that the exterior model is as important as the interior. In my opinion when talking about the exterior model and detail I would pay more attention to the nose or face of this Boeing. For example; The Eyebrows-- The angles, size and width of each widows' frameworks --The nose, and some other details that make this aircraft UNIQUE by its own LOOK , --->( A BOEING that can be recognised from any angle) I know you build this bird based to blueprints, it looks great. but not everythink turns out to be like in the blueprints, so it needs adjustments, and there is where the human eye comes in to judge our process in any project right or wrong our Eyes and the Brain connected together make the last touch of Perfection and detail. I Love this Bird inside and outside Thanks for the hard work trying to make this bird look like a REAL BOEING. but then again I might be Right or Wrong you be the judgeSERGIO D. SALAMANCA

Like everyone else on this forum i am very much looking forward to the release of the PMDG NGX. Could somebody tell me are there any plans to offer a paid Beta aircraft, much like DCS did (more accurately are doing) with the A-10? This method seems to offer everyone a happy ending, PMDG get money for there product, they get legions of beta testers, people who don't want to beta test have the chance to wait for the full release.Personally i don't see a downside to this.ThanksIan Tyldesley

Sergio,The aircraft has been designed in accordance with boeings own blueprints. As far as i know those plans are as real as it gets. These guys have spent a very long time photographing and scaling everything to perfection, no doubt its spot on.-Dan Parker

The MD-11 is outstanding FULL STOP. Seriously how can the NGX come close.

MD11 J41 747 NGX . . awaiting 777 !!!

I must say congratulations guys! Great job! My only worry is that when you power up the engines, the fans looks rather blurry.. I don't know if it's only me being to critic, but what are you guys thought about this? - David Soerensen

Ryan,I thought I had read somewhere in this forum (either from you or Robert) that there will be an option to choose configs based on what the real world airlines use. Can you confirm this?
