Externalities and the NGX

Captains,I'm sorry to say that I just deleted about 2 dozen posts in this thread because the poster did not sign with their full name. Full name means first and last name. First name only is not a full name. Last initial is not a full name. Signing every post with your full name is a requirement in the PMDG forum, and we thank you for your continued effort in adhering to this rule. Thank you.And just so you don't think I'm being too hard on you all, here's a gratuitous shot the PMDG 737NGX getting ready for pushback from PMDG's newly commandeered spaces at Orbx's Melbourne International.

everyone is so impatient for the release of this bird, yet there are lots of people pointing out all the "flaws" on the airplane (notice the quotations over flaws). Do you people stare at these pics for hours on end just trying to find something wrong with them? How many times do the guys from PMDG need to tell you that they are using blueprints directly from BOEING or show you pictures of them taking pictures of the real aircraft. I doubt the blueprints or their own pictures are wrong and all the people on here that look at airliner pictures on the net are right. I'm not an expert myself but I do work at CYEG and I see 13 of westjet's NG's, 1 continental, 1 or 2 sunwing and Canadian North's brand new NG sitting on the ramp every night. I help out the mechanic for sunwing once in a while changing wheels when its -40C (like tonight) and from the pics Ive seen on this thread PMDG knows what they are doing far better than me or you. Pretty sure if you look back about 20 pages or so Tabs asked people to stop nit-picking every single little detail on the pics.I think the aircraft looks awsome in my opinion, again not an expert, just a happy customer that is greatfull there are devs out there that will actually take the time to put together this piece of art with so much attention to detail for all of us armchair pilots to enjoy. Keep up the great work PMDG.Corey Prefontaine
I, too, do not understand the preoccupation some people seem to have with picking out what they see as inaccuracies/mistakes with this upcoming product. For heaven's sake people, they are using the Boeing blueprints and are in contact with the people at Boeing that actually build the damn thing! Stop trying to show off - it only makes you appear a small-minded, petty know-it-all. I think that by now any mistakes would've been fixed BEFORE Robert would release any external pictures. PMDG didn't get to the top of their game by cutting corners, etc. Just give the poor guys a rest and let them finish the product, ok?

Can't wait to fly the approaches into queenstown. In a recent issue of Australian aviation magazine there was an in depth article on Qantas ops into the airport. I would love if ORBX Sid scenery for it

None of this is really important but just thought you might like to know as there are several misconceptions floating around.TomPS: I was located at KBFI in flight test for many years.
Yeah, but thanks anyways. I was quite unaware of what happens at the different locations. Out of curiosity, what'd you do for flight test at BFI?sig.gif

Regarding the POSKY member's earlier claims (I don't know who he is since he didn't sign his name):1. Vortex generators - these are a retrofit package kit that are available for *any* NG. It may be true that no airline has ordered this kit without also ordering the eyebrow plugs (both are designed to reduce cockpit noise), but that doesn't mean it's impossible to do - you could call up and order it for an eyebrow NG right now, it is not tied to the presence or lack of eyebrow windows. They come standard on new non-eyebrow NGs.2. Pitots - they match our photos from the airplane we surveyed and they match the engineering information - we're convinced the angle is correct.3. AoA indexers - there are four different types of AOA indexers approved for use on the NG and yes, one of them does go vertical. That's the one that was on the aircraft we surveyed and it's what we modeled.

I don't know about the picture but yes, the -900ER does have the extra doors right behind the wings. On that subject, why does only the ER have those and not the standard -900?

Ryan Gamurot

the 900 were only allowed for 189 pax if iam correctly, because it would take much longer if 212 (900er capicity) needed to evacuate. thats why they builded two extra doors for the 900ermichaelknittl

Flight test instrumentation Engineer. Designed installations of the test instrumention needed for certification. Then few on the planes to monitor in flight.Tom Hibben

To bad we couldnt get both the -900 and -900ER but hey, i will still buy and enjoy the NGX!

My beloved -800 is there, without and with winglets. For the first time the -900 is being displayed, with and without winglets, but what about the -600 and -700?Nice scenario, BTW.

These fellas are MASTERS of teasing!!!!!!!!!!! Judging by the picture, it appears the 900 in the foreground is the plain 900, and the one next to it (farther from view) could very well be an ER. If you look very VERY closely it seems that extra behind wing door is there, as well as spacing between the windows. And the foreground 900 could very well be a standard 900 without that door, but its hard to tell because its own winglet is strategically blocking that view.LOL, kudos to PMDG for keeping us on our toes! I'm going to guess that both ER and nonER -900 are included, because why would two 900's with winglets be in this picture?

Seems like my earlier post about small 8'' (circa) TFT screens were lost in the plethora of posts in this thread. Anyone know how big (height, width) a real 737NG glass PFD is?
The screens are 7.125 inches square, diagonal is about 10.076 inches. Most people who do home cockpit stuff though use bigger monitors behind their panels though and just display multiple screens at their correct size on them.
