RealAir Turbine Duke

Featured Replies

Yes, actually I did. I guess the question I'm having is what this "as good as the sim gets for turboprop GA aircraft" exactly means. E.g. how big the discrepancy still is compared to the behaviour of the real thing, since I don't have any personal experience with flying turbine aircrafts and FSX not being the best place for developing turbine aircrafts.Cheers.
I'm enjoying the heck out of it myself and I am stickler for the sim not teaching any bad habits since I fly in real life. You wouldn't learn any bad habits or something that's terribly unrealistic in operation for this Duke turboprop. Add at least one of the RXP Garmin's and you've got a very solid IFR platform capable of hand flying or autopilot directed GPS WAAS LPV approaches.

Thanks for your feedback, it is really appreciated.

FSX will never be perfectly aligned with the RW, nor will XP (despite what some people say), so once you get out of that mind set you'll find FSX/XP/FS9 can get pretty darn close. The Turbine Duke is pretty darn close.

FSX will never be perfect as long as it remains FSX. Talk%20to%20the%20Hand.gif.If you're talking about Reality-XP now, then, I believe it is literally 99% perfect. Assuming you have all the packages, the only thing it won't do is give textual wx reports. I have used older GPS units that did this and I certainly hope a unit of this price would do so as well.

Think he meant XPlane

The difference between reciprocating and turbine. Throttle response. The Navy had to learn the lesson on carrier traps...
This is one of the reasons why I love the Flight1 Cessna Citation Mustang. It has very quick throttle response time for a jet.

1. Put the xml code into a text file with Notepad and call the file AntiSkid.xml 2. Put the AntiSkid.xml file into the Duke Panel/Config folder3. Add a line to the Duke panel.cfg file in the Vcockpit01 section gauge20=Config!AntiSkid, 600,602,1,1
Thanks, I´ll gonna test it right away. You are allways a great help. biggrin.gif

At least the Cowl Flaps (piston) or Oil Cooler Doors (Turbine) will work with some lua commands, thanks to FSUIPC. See here. http://forum.simflight.com/topic/65201-lua-file-cowl-flaps-switches-duke-b60-solved/So, if one would investigate a bit, there might be some more to come.
Glad to see you like my little lua file.. Best of all there are already a LOT more available..!!I dont even touch a mouse anymore... ust love the LUA functionality that it brought to the game..!

I like the turbo lag, it helps you get used to flying big iron with spool lag.

I just wanted to say what an awesome aircraft the turbine duke is. It too bad reality xp doesn't have an FSX version of the Sandel EHSI, it would be a nice addition to the turbine duke.

Rob & Zane - thanks for all that feedback on my query about the prop pitch - most enlightening and I now stand corrected - the Duke actually displays it correctly. And thanks for the comments on the sound files Rob - I have a much better understanding now of the issues faced by Developers.Having learnt some more, this only reinforces my belief that this is arguably, THE BEST AFTER MARKET GA A/c for FSX.Greg

It does. Another fine model, IMHO. I may fly it more if I upgrade to Sandy Bridge.

Why does that Duke pic have two transponders?

<br /><br /><br />That's crazy! What's the point of all those GPS's?

Very common in this class of aircraft used for backup. If one fails you can immediately switch to the backup unit. A transponder is required for flight in many areas, if your one unit fails you can be stuck waiting for repair.
