May 16, 201115 yr Steve said it best when he stated that the more time they take to make videos, the more time away from developement is taken. I'm sorry my videos (which were the first one's I had ever done) were not up to PMDG quality. I simply wanted to show her off to people without any editing to show you what you really get. I did in fact use TrackIR except in video 1. But you have taught me a lesson. If I can't make videos up to PMDG quality, I shouldn't take out my free time to make them for you and let you see her for yourself. Sorry they were not up to standards...In no way should a user submitted (or even by the addon maker) video be a sole source of reference on judging the merits of a product. True it may make a nice first impression, but the keen consumer should know that poor products can be made to look better than they are with the right amount of professional pizazz. There is only so much you can show in a video, most people who are deciding on either ifly or PMDG will make their consideration on more than a video, they have been keeping up with news and previews from either party. May 16, 201115 yr I didn't male the videos to convince peole to choose one over the other. Personally, I will own both. I just figured she deserved to be shown off. I have had the pleasure of flying her for the last week and since people were asking about how the frame rates were, I decided to show them. I'm not a professional movie maker nor am I for one product or the other. I will make my own judgement on which I like better when I have flown them both.
May 16, 201115 yr Can you make a video of a night approach in bad weather? That would be great. Thanks for your work
May 16, 201115 yr I am getting ready to start my shift at work, if the iFly isn't released before I get off, I'll make some more.
May 16, 201115 yr Jeremy, no offense was meant at your video skills. I'm looking at it from a marketing/business standpoint. I'm glad you took the time to show us the AC in action, but your videos are the equivalent of a first date, impression counts. Your first attempt at an FSX video is what most people will base their judgement on. I'm getting both as I know the quality of both makers. Those that have moved on from FS9, might not be as familiar with what iFLy has achieved.
May 16, 201115 yr How about during your shift? :DLol I can't make a video, but you can listen to me at liveatc.net, KLAS Tower.
May 16, 201115 yr Commercial Member Folks,This discussion happens every-time a complex add-on is about to hit the market, "what a fair price should be"? One could throw equations at the lower cost more sales concept, but again many of us don't seriously take into consideration how much time has been put in for R&D, programming, (needless to say - time away from families). In the case PMDG and a few other developers in the business, a price tag worthy of the time, hard work and dedication is truly greater than what many of the products go for. Realistically I could see PMDG selling each variant of the 737 at a given price and or selling all variants for a higher price if they wanted to.I am not a developer, but I have been an active beta tester in several projects (some at times seemed like a full time job :D). I can respect PMDG's approach they go above and beyond to ensure that the end-user is able to simulate just about every working system on the aircraft, and they have provided at an additional cost extensive documentation (which many have bought) to assist you in operating your new investment. The questions is - what is it worth to you and do you see the benefit of this purchase? If you are going to fly the aircraft frequently and learn its systems as it is intended, then you can see your money being put to good use. However if it is going to sit in your hangar and get flown once a month then - that's your call - how badly do you want it!!! In the age of Youtube, I think most people are smart enough to figure out which videos are made professionally and which are made by enthusiast. May 16, 201115 yr It will be relased today!!!!!! :( :( :smile:I've had a read through the ops manual, looks very promising. With the Flight1 30-day money-back guarantee and FS2Crew support from day 1, getting this is a no-brainer to me.
