This is what an NG REALLY looks like

Negative. You gotta push the CTR button. In fact it will cycle thru EXP, CTR, and CTR/VSD, unlike the ones that lack the VSD where it will just switch back and forth between EXP and CTR. DATA OTOH will show stuff like possible alt constraints and ETA for coming up waypoints.sig.gif
This is correct. The ND terrain is the TERR button - DATA is crossing times and altitude constraints.

The CTR button makes more sense. I thought it was a bit weird that the data button would be used to switch the VSD on/off, but that website was the only place I could find any reference to an on/off button for it.

Do we get that nice white stuff that appears in engines when taking off. I assume not because that's not vital but would be cool.

Are you talking about the water vapour that sometimes is visible being sucked into the engines in humid weather?

I wonder where the release schedule RSR promised us last night is? I'm getting anxious! Nail%20Biting.gif

Kristoff, they still have the two "mile markers" to pass before we get any info on a release date.

Precisely why PMDG do NOT offer release dates/schedules...

I misread his post, thinking that he said he was giving a release schedule last night, rather than just discussing it with his team. I fully understand their stance on release dates. Relax, it was an honest misinterpretation.

Kris, PMDG said it just went into the first phase of beta so I would bet at least another week or two. JeffG

On this, is there anyone who knows if 10.8 is the latest release being used in the real world? There's some mention on that linked site of a version 11 coming out in 2010? Has it made it? Or been canned? Given the amazing amount of options and systems that have been modelled on the NGX, is upgrade or downgrade of the FMC software one of them? Maybe via service pack or whatever in the future? Thanks
I have a simple question, it appears FMC 10.8 is in fact modeled on the NGX. Is there an option to use 10.7 instead, as I'm sure some customers still use it. As you may know, with 10.7, VNAV and LNAV cannot be armed on the ground, and the pilot can only enable VNAV after flaps are retracted following the acceleration height. I much prefer 10.8 with VNAV/LNAV armed on the ground, but how neat would it be if there is the flexibility to simulate the older LNAV/VNAV systems! iFLY's NG is 10.7 only, so I'm thrilled PMDG is simulating 10.8, but still I'm curious to see if we can have the older option, in keeping with the wide variety of options the real NG drivers have at their disposal.

Honestly I gave up on what's said in the updates these days.Phrases like "it'll be in your hands soon" keep appearing but then weeks go by.Last week according to an official update the plane was supposed to go to the wider beta team and a few days after that we would hear about an estimated release date. Now this week, we read the 2 "mile markers" haven't been achieved yet but they should get through them this week.Well from now on every time I see the word "should" I'm not getting my hopes up and I'll just wait like everyone else is doing. Yeah that's pretty much how I feel as well.
