I have a computer for around 3000 USD and if all my other games ran like FSX I would probably sell my computer on the spot and get a new hobby. Its just the whole game, so unstable and so many problems, many ghettomod fixes, many alterations with the game config outside the game, etc, etcAfter finally getting FSX stable on my computer a year ago I still hesitate everytime I use the menu, everytime i load a new aircraft, everytime i buy an addon... It feels like youre balancing the whole game on the tip of a needle.Yes, id rather throw all my FSX addons into the bin just to get a fresh start, in fact, i cant WAIT til the day comes when i type "FSX" into the search bar and nothing appears - in flight we trust.

If people already are thinking this, MSFlight has failed.Imo flight should look better than FSX is today with all the high end payware,But we know so little yet, and these pictures are called previews for a reason. Btw regarding the clouds, I hope they make them more dynamic than in FSX, so that it doesnt feel like your flying through a .gif turning towards you at close range giving you the 2D spinI Edited May 27, 201115 yr by backslick

I totally agree,FS2000 was a DUD, and so was FSX.A struggle from day 1 to get it to run good.FSX arriving too late for multi Core usage. If MS Flight will utilize ALL CPU Cores and the GPU's properly and effectively, I will buy it for sure. ( Give it one last go )But I am definitely trying a new direction aswell and purchase X-Plane 10 when it's released.Cheers, Rcik RICK MELCHER Melbourne, Australia Frustrated armchair Pilot
May 28, 201115 yr Commercial Member I'll be sticking with FSX and the hundreds of dollars I've pumped into it to make it look, feel, and fly almost like the real thing.Aaaaand here we go again... it never changes does it? There's still people saying they'll never leave FS9 8 years later and now we're already starting up with the same stuff about FSX vs. Flight, which is 6 years old itself next year. The Flight team has stated that performance is their primary concern - if Flight looked exactly like FSX but performed at 60FPS without overclocking and all that it would be worth it alone, big time. Once flight comes out there will be no more FS9 vs. FSX arguments, it will be FSX vs. Flight arguments. Of course there will still be some who say that FSX and Flight suck and they will remain on FS9 until the day they die. Same story over and over...I still get a good laugh and a kick out of all the FSX is a joke posts about how it so unstable, etc. FSX is as stable as can be if it, the operating sytem, and drivers are setup properly. The problem is for most that have an unstability problem with FSX is that one of those ingredients is usually not satisfactory to make it work properly, otherwise we would all be having instability problems and PMDG would still be developing for FS9 and not FSX.Sean Campbell Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator

Back in 1995 the car my dad gave me for a first car died and I spent 17 grand and got my first car that I bought myself, sure 17 grand was a lot of money to me but do I still drive that car..NO. better stuff has come along now and that car that is a lot more expensive the FSX is in the boneyard. FSX will be just like that car I bought back then, in the junkyard. A new game that is meant for modern computers will be much much better than fsx so I will make the move as soon as good planes are out for it. May 28, 201115 yr You can't say FSX is a joke.Just look at the differences in scenery between FS9 and FSX. It's uncomparable. Also, TURBULENCE. FSX got a MUCH more realistic turbulence engine. In FS9 I used to just swish left and right in turbulence and stay there. In FSX you actually bump in all directions, all the time, in turbulence, like in real life. A huge difference.Yes, you needed a beast of a computer to run it, and it was one of its shortcomings, but you really can't call FSX a joke at all.
May 28, 201115 yr The way I see it, my HD has tons of room as it is solely a sim system. I am open to most new sim offerings. Flight looks great so far, and several devs have "hinted" at addon development for Flight allready. With the new engine, and multicore support, I am sure this will be a welcome addition to my HD! Not so hot on the online/arcade aspect however. Hey.... We'll see i guess. May 28, 201115 yr If FSX was really a joke there would be no one here writing that FSX is a joke because there would be no one here - this place would be empty. Nobody is buying add-ons to something that is a joke. Judging by how crowded these forums are - it is far from a joke. Michael J.
May 28, 201115 yr Is anyone else thinking one of reasons they named it Flight is because typing FS11 or FSXI looks horrible? May 28, 201115 yr Is anyone else thinking one of reasons they named it Flight is because typing FS11 or FSXI looks horrible? I think it is because it is a whole new reincarnation of the FS series. Also the demgraphic this version is targeted toward is more vast than previous versions. The inclusion of a gameplay combined with an online experience would seem to be more appealing to the younger (gamer/achievement collector) crowd. Just my opinion. :( "To most the sky is the limit but to me it's home" Rick Harms (CYVR) i7 [email protected] (for now) asus p6t v2, 6gb ocz 1600 CL7 ram. May 28, 201115 yr In my opinion, FSX was like the MSFS version of vista or the iPhone 4. It was riddled with problems that eventually either got fixed or people learned to live with or workaround. Flight therefor hopefully would be like Win7. But for me and I'm sure most people, it's all about the addons. If I can't run my PMDG stuff or addon scenery (Unless MS actually does a good job...) I can't see the point since most people here only use FSX as an environment to run these in. Ryan Gamurot
