Everyone here knows that the 777 project is a wrong information from PMDG to hide the top secret Woodpigeon mega project.Triple Seven can't compete with it. It has no pogostick.

I need to correct my facts, and please dont feel the need to answer but is this aircraft going to be Persistant (meaning saving its state after every flight) like the A2A aircraft? Just wondering. Thanks :(

Hey Etienne,I don't know if there is any "real" lighting in the VC or FSX at all. To me It's looks like it's just plain 2D, there are no real light sources in the sense of the word and they don't cast proper shadows. Maybe the dome lights work by applying some advanced alpha blending, but I am speculating on that one. The landing lights on the fuselage are just an Alpha layer on the fuselage texture. You could make it heart shaped or make it display letters if you wanted. I think you can even change the colour to pink if that is what you like. The ground illumination of the landing lights is also just a texture which can be changed - think of REX.So it might be possible to pull off, but it wouldn't look very convincing.
Hey Alex, you are right about the shadows and the landing light beam cast on the ground, that one is really a seperate, global texture (alright, regarding the NGX we might not be talking "global" anymore in this particular case... lol). But still, I am pretty sure the beacon and nav lights do in fact light up the surrounding surfaces of the 3D model, without any additional textures, and while I'm not able to reproduce it at the moment, I for sure remember the cockpit lights could do the same. Just checked a few stock aircraft, and e. g. the C208 beacon will light up the upper fuselage quite noticeable (albeit it looks pretty unrealistic). Same applies to the 737, where the upper beacon lights up a small part of the fuselage, but a great part of the wing root... erhm yeah right. I agree it's far from being a physically correct model. And no shadows, which makes the effect work through aircraft walls as well, wow. :Loser:On a side note, I found it pretty cool a few years back hahah... :( But things have changed quite a bit since.sig.gifEDIT
I was thinking about something: in the real photo of the plane (as shown a few posts above), the parking brake light is reflected on the throttles. Is it present in the NGX too?
Ok forget the above. After half an hour of fiddling this is how far I can get it quick'n'dirty, in case this is sort of the effect you've been looking for. Would certainly look better if the throttles had more glossiness, but I don't know if that's adjustable in the modelling environment. Obviously lacking the actual 'halo'-nav-light-like-effect but that's just a piece of cake then (I believe). Oh and btw, this doesn't prove anything at all (like it could be done haha). It just shows you could theoretically light up the console a tiny little bit, and most importantly it's not even triggered to the barking brake - right now my stock 737 sports a nav light right there... Plus I don't know how many custom lights you can have. I believe the limit in FS2000 was eight, not sure what it is now. Well I should try it out while I'm at it... :(effect.jpg

We *very* clearly said that there was not a hard date on the wide beta stuff - the estimates RSR and myself provided in that other thread were our real estimates at the time. Obviously we've run into some things that are causing it to take longer than expected. If you really want to know specifically, our tech team discovered another issue with a particular type of VNAV descent that's taken some time to fix - parts of the code had to be reworked to change the behavior and that takes time. One man is doing that VNAV code, you have to understand that - he's working 18 hours a day on this airplane right now. We're targeting tomorrow night now - again, this is a TARGET, not a "promise", not a "guarantee" or anything like that. Targets are missed very often in this kind of development - remember we're doing everything from scratch on this airplane.
Any further news to report Guys?

Hi Joe,Me too,I thought today of all days (4th July) would have beengreat PR oppertunity for the team to give an update boost to everyone.Unfortunatley though, it is once again all quiet on the Western front B) I must say with the Aircraft being as far along in development as it isclaimed to be, I would have thought there would have been more screenies & more info (Insight) about Aircraft systems etc. B)
