This doesn't mean that we simply wrote a cute wrapper around the default autopilot system, it means that we are using an entirely custom autopilot, written from the ground up for this application.
Oh gosh, I found a problem here that may set us back a few months. I need my autoland system to go from "up" to the ground biggrin.gif.

Hi Randazzo, splendid update !Thanks so much !!!

@ RSR&Ryan:VNAV/LNAV - I know exactly what you mean and I am extremely happy and impressed by your words of how the NGX autopilot work has progressed.Being on a flying job and quite often in the flight deck I know what a proper VNAV descend means. As well as LNAV keeping the line, the holds and capturing of the localizer. In this therms the most recent 737 product for example has pretty funny behavior on descent - dropping the speed during the first 5-7000 feet, then firewalling the throttles to try and catch up with the VNAV calculation. A second later of course it has to idle again, and so on, and so on. Keeping up with the speed on cruise is not good either with engines constantly oscillating. Capturing the localizer is always an overshoot and a bit of oscillation does occur until the plane is settled down the line. For me, those little details are the ones that qualify certain product as bad/average/super-duper top notch.... The J41 and MD11 were pretty much on the spot with the autopilot, so I guess the NGX will bring even higher standards to our industry. :(

Ryan, I had posted a question in the MD11 forum regarding this very topic. I was on the SEAVU2 arrival into LAX, and the crossing restriction at SEAVU is "at/above 12000, at/below 14000". I could program one or the other, but not both. The consensus was to just use "13000". Will the NGX be capable of such a thing (at/above, combined with at/below)?
Yes, the NGX is fully capable of block restrictions.
Can those of us who've never complained and encouraged PMDG to take it's time get first dibs? rolleyes.gif
Believe me I wish we could do that... not feasible though.

Would it be possible for PMDG to release the tutorial, so we can start looking over it and get familiar?rolleyes.gif

The list of items included in the NGX in terms of functionality is mind-boggling. Can I ask if there is anything that the team would have liked to have included, but couldn't for one reason or another (eg, weather radar, which we already know about)? Can we get METAR information on the FMC (not sure if that's even possible in the real world)?

Ryan has already stated several times he is waiting for a more/less final build so the screenshots are consistent with what we will see so assume the tutorial isn't ready for release yet :(

The complexity thats gone into this product will attribute to its simplicity to fly and operate
