August 11, 201114 yr Perhaps slightly OT but, the fact that this gentle, humble and helpful man chose Avsim as his virual home, reinforces just what a great place this is. So, my thanks to Tom AND the whole of the Avsim dedicated team for making this place what it is, AND for what it is NOT.Thanks for that Phil. I have to confess though, OPA slapped us around more than a couple of times (in his gentlemanly kind of way) for doing bone-headed stuff on the front page, in reviews and most frequently, the forums. I always suspected that he was a denizen here because he wanted to keep us on the straight and narrow 24/7. Believe me, we appreciated it. It was one of the few voices of reason and maturity. August 12, 201114 yr I log in for the first time in a while, and I see this. It saddens me, Opa was one of the ones from way back that I remember. My condolences to all who knew him. Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB
August 13, 201114 yr We have lost a great tutor and the kindest person in this forum. David was always full of information for any of us beginners. I feel so sad to loose a great person to our community. May you rest in peace David. We will miss you very much. Our deepest sympathies to his family.
August 13, 201114 yr Always seemed to be right there, always helpful, knowledgeable and polite - Opa's passing is a great and sad loss to us all. My prayers go out for him and his family. May he rest in peace.Bill
August 13, 201114 yr I was rather shocked to hear of this. I remember him from the times I frequented the flightsim.com forums several years ago. At that time he already seemed to me to be the kind of guy that only wants to help. It is a truly sad loss and he will be missed by many of us. May he rest in peace. I can only hope that all of Avsim will remember Opa and continue his spread of helpful and well-written posts. Condolences to the family. August 16, 201114 yr After many years(like others)I've pretty much moved on from FS due to time constraints/other reasons, but I occasionally lurk on the Avsim boards to find out the latest . Hearing of David's passing, and remembering his contributions on so many threads in the past, does make me pause to remember all the great folks here(and other places) that made the hobby so enjoyable. For your part David, thank you Sir....Tailwinds.
August 17, 201114 yr I am so sad to read this. He helped me on several occasions and I noticed that he was always nice to everybody. What a gentleman. I will miss him for sure. My gallery: http://s1075.photobucket.com/albums/w430/yankeegolf/
September 1, 201114 yr What a loss! I once replied in one of Opa's post that he was a "treasure" to the flight sim community. He was amused and humble as always at being referred to as a "treasure". He truely was!
September 2, 201114 yr Having been busy with work recently, I've not been on Avsim's forum for a few weeks. Consequently I was very upset to learn this news upon checking in. He will be sorely missed; the world of flight simming, and indeed the world at large has lost a real gentleman. Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
