If we could all each possess just a small amount David's humility, what wonderful world this would be. He taught me much! Thanks David!

Wow Wow Wow... What a shock! I am so sad to hear this onfo. I just talked to him a few weeks ago as he was helping me with a problem that I was having. He said that he was leaving in a few days for a 30 day vacation. I truly hope that he really enjoyed the couple of weeks that he did have. I am the one who reccommended him for "Flight Simmer of the Decade" last year. Of all of the people that have helped me with flight sim problems he was at the Top of the List ! I could and did ask for his help and almost the very next day he would be back with an answer. I am so sorry to hear this sad news. May he always rest in peace. jerrycwo4

It is with great sadness to inform you, that David Marshal (a.k.a. as "Opa") has passed away, after a heart attack last Thursday. His daughter Mary informed me of this, in reply to an Email I sent to David a few days ago.I'm sure many of you will be as shocked as I am.As you know probably know, David was a very knowledgeable and extremely helpfull member in the flightsim community. My deepest sympathy to David's family, and I wish them much strength in dealing with their awfull loss."Opa", RIP.You will be missed by many. Best regards,Rob Barendregt
That is really sad. His responses to inquiries were consistently helpful and contained noen of the "sniping" one often sees on other forums.

Godspeed, Opa. A heartfelt "Thank You" to his family for sharing such a fine man with our flight sim community.

People like Ooa are a rare breed of what's good in the world, and the world will be a sader place without him. Rest in peace my friend.

I feel a horrible sense of loss with the news of his passing. He was always willing to help others, and to give credit for ideas he passed along. We had several email conversations working out someone's problems or about a tip one or the other of us had posted, and he was always the perfect gentleman. My very best wishes to his family and friends,

Disappearance of a great man of the world FS. I began to know the mechanics of many parts of FS by reading his famous "tips & tricks" ... This brutal disappearance leaves me like an orphan unsure.png Rest in peace David. My condolences to his family. - sorry for my poor english ...

Wow. I talked to David a few times thru Avsim over the years. I always stayed in Plano when I was there for business. I would go to Frys there and look at all the sim stuff there since I have none near me. I always thought about pming David and seeing if he wanted to meet for dinner and talk about Flight Sim stuff but felt weird about it since I only knew in thru Avsim. I should have. As already mentioned David is one of those guys who is always willing to help and teach others. Truly a great man. He is someone this world can use more of. He was always willing to help others he never even met. His family and especially his grandchildren are very lucky and blessed to be part of his life. We all here in the FS community are extremely grateful and blessed to know him. We will sadly miss Opaplano Grandfather in Plano :)

Imagine my surprise when perusing the front page of AVSIM and read of Opa's passing. He had helped me a couple of times, directly and indirectly and for that, I am greatful. Daryl, your Dad was an inspiration to what one could aspire to be. He was always helpful and I cannot ever recall see him saying anything that could be interpreted as irate or sarcastic even. As noted, he will be missed by all in the FS community as he was the one who had an endless supply of knowledge on the subject. My condolences to your family. Opa, may you fly free where ever you wish. Godspeed friend.
