Terrible news. It is going to be strange not to see his posts, and that classic picture. And i agree that it should be some memorial to his honour. That's the least we can do after all he gave us. Fly free "Opa". No airspace restrictions apply.
Couldn't have said it any better. I remember he was the first person to respond to my first ever question about fs. This is so sad, RIP David, I will miss seeing your friendly face and posts in the forums.

I can only echo what many, many others have said here. What a kind, considerate and knowledgeable gentleman we have lost. Things just won't be the same without Opa's posts - especially concerning WoAI problems where, I think, David was without peer. A great loss for us all but even moreso for his family. I just hope they're aware of how David's passing has resonated around the world; the mark of a truly great man. R.I.P. Opa.

My deepest condolences go out to Opa's family and friends. I never met him but I received a lot of help from him as did many others here and elsewhere. His presence will be deeply missed. Happy flying in the beyond Opa! Rest in peace. Bob.

Oh, no. I cannot believe it. This gentleman helped so many, many people, including me,in the number of years, even before FSX hit the streets, with all kinds of solutions to our problems. Please pass on Deepest Condolences to his family. What a loss. R.I.P David, and God Bless.

Rick Almeida

Shocking news. Indeed, as stated many times above, an immense loss for the Avsim and entire FS Community. His tireless efforts to help all on this forum will be missed. R.I.P Dear David...

I'm sorry to hear of David's passing. he was a great help and inspiration to all of us R.I.P. David. Our condolences tou the family. Ed Kammerman

It's a very, very, very sad news!!! He was indeed a helpful, knowledgeable and, most importantly for me, a truly international member of our community! He was always ready to extend his support to newbie pilots and share his own experiences even with expert simmers regardless of distances splitting us. I remember the days when Grandpa Opa helped me with my first steps in flight sim - both pilot- and developer-wise! Rest in Peace, dear Friend!!!

Regards,

Victor Quebec

I learned a lot from Opaplano, and I have still many questions, but that's not important anymore.Lots of strength for the family in this days and for later. We will miss him.Jan.

Very sad news indeed. I have exchanged many e-mails with OPA where he helped me with problems on my Sim. Such a kind and helpful man that I felt I almost knew him personally. He will be sadly missed by all the flightsim community and his Tips and Tricks series are still read by many. RIP OPA and sincere condolences to his family. Dermot Hallahan UK
