What a true gentleman he was. He had helped me on more than one occasion. He will be missed. Very shocked at the news. Best regards, Jeff

Hello everyone. My sincere condolences to David Marshal / "Opa"'s family and friends. He will be missed in our community and I am sure by all his friends and family. He was a very wise individual, always behaving like a true gentleman, always helping and putting out fires, here on the board, and I am sure he did the same in real life, be them technical or personal in nature. We lost a number of very valuable members, in the last few years, and I hope this trend ends.I wish his family, and friends, best whishes and please let us know if there is anything I/we can do to help. His tutorials and contributions over the years were greatly helpful. Condolences to his family. He will be missed.

Sad news indeed, there are chatacters , there are monuments...'opa' was both...friendly, polite, helpfull,If one member deserved a photograph at the top of many a forum, it was opa.I have read many of his posts, his insight into the labyrinth of Flight Simulator (whatever the version) ran deep and on many occasions I could benefitfrom his answeres. To his family I can only sent my deepest condolances ans sympathy. He will be rembered here as a friend and fellow simmer as he will be rembered as a father, husband, 'opa'We miss you already... Opa was a valuable part of the flight sim community in so many ways, whether it be right here on the avsim forums assisting people, or through all of his work available in the library. The community has lost one very fine man.

Sad, sad news indeed; we have lost a pillar of our community. Sincere condolences to his family, and RIP, David; you will be missed wherever you touched FS. Martyn BeckerUK

I bet he still finds a way to help many of us even from heaven! My condolences to his family, strength be with you. KJ

Terrible news. It is going to be strange not to see his posts, and that classic picture. And i agree that it should be some memorial to his honour. That's the least we can do after all he gave us. Fly free "Opa". No airspace restrictions apply.

UGH! Hate to hear news like this.... Dave was such a great guy, always on here helping people. I recall how great it was when Avsim switched to the new forum and I finally got to see what he looked like. We are going to miss him for sure. My thoughts are with his family and friends.

I'm very saddened to hear this, I remember first picking up FS and reading Opa's "Tips and Tricks" and seeing his contributions on the forums. Always helpful and ready to lend a hand. He will be missed around here
