With this update installed, I feel this is probably the very best addon scenery yet released for FSX. Using this with heavy AI and the PMDG NGX certainly does bring down the frames somewhat, but that cannat be blamed on the coding for LAX. There's just so much traffic in and out of LAX, that any decent representation of it would, I'm sure, suffer the same. I've yet to FULLY explore every corner, but the detail I've seen so far is astonishing. A bit like PMDG, with the new NGX, I've gotta wonder just how FSDT made this SO good without impacting frames even more. Well done FSDT - 99/100!!

I don't know about the best but it is one of the best done for FSX for sure. I think all of the FSDT products are excellent products and I really like Honolulu International. With new computer systems, the FPS are definitely manageable with all the eye-candy. I just wish they had done KSFO as that's one of my favorite destinations too. Best regards,Jim

Flightbeam did KSFO, and it is on the same level as FSDT products. Flightbeam's next airport is KPHX, and the preview shot they posted in their forum is very impressive: http://www.flightbeam.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=268

Yes, I have Flightbeam's KSFO. It's excellent BUT you have to buy another program (AES) to get the gates to move. The KPHX picture looks great as I have been to Phoenix several times over the years but I will probably pass buying it if the gates do not operate. Best regards,Jim

Yeah, it is a bit annoying, but FlyTampa is the same way. I just live with none moving jetways at KSFO and at my FlyTampa airports. It's a small price to pay in my opinion for the incredible visual quality of these airports.

The latest update and GSX will make this airport a perfect 10. Certainly a must have for any FSX enthusiast.

I certainly agree with you on that! I heard GSX will work even on 3d party airports. That is an upgrade I'm really looking forward to getting as FSDT developers really do some great things. Best regards,Jim

Probably. But what isn't a FPS hog? I would just like to have them working when I buy a commercial program. They were working before I upgraded. Best regards,Jim

Only when you are talking about them reacting to AI aircraft. If you throw 300 aircraft on the ground with moving jetways your FPS will suffer. If it is only for the user aircraft, it is no big deal. The ones AES provides have no impact as far as I can tell.

I only have the FlyTampa St Marteen scenery and fortunately there are no moving gates down there. But I agree, I still like the visual quality of these airports otherwise. Best regards,Jim

True lol the whole p.c would blow up interesting thing I never tried to enable jetways for all ultimate traffic 2 ai planes gotta try that one day and see how frames go down.

I too am very suprised how good the FPS are. I downloaded the trial verson last week and I admit, I am very impressed.

The KPHX picture looks great as I have been to Phoenix several times over the years but I will probably pass buying it if the gates do not operate.
So if Flightbeam did an awesome job and made PHX one of the best looking airports to date as well as making it more FPS friendly than the stock airport, you would pass just because the jetways dont move and stick to using the default version?This isn't aimed at you specifically Jim, but I have read people say the same thing in the past, that they wouldn't buy an addon airport just for the simple fact that the jetways dont move. I always have a hard time understanding how a feature like moving jetways, which take up such a small and minut part of a flight, could possibly be that important to where someone would pass on a great addon, especially when the only other option in most cases is the default airport.I can understand not buying an airport if it lacks a custom ground poly, uses some default buildings or objects, looks bad, or performs horribly, but not buying a great looking addon airport that is entirely custom and realistic looking but lacks moving jetways always strikes me as a funny reason to decline a purchase. I'd take a kick butt looking airport with static jetways any day of the week over any of the default airports curently in FSX.

Well stated and I agree wholeheartedly. I sometimes get agitated myself when I see someone state they disagree with one small aspect of FSX. I sort of liked the moving jetways as they gave me some feeling of realism, just like shadows do on the side of mountains for many or the feeling of movement in the cockpit during flight. The default KSFO, KLAX, KSEA, and KLAS, to name a few, were specially created by Microsoft techs for FSX. Personally, I thought the Aces Team programmers did an excellent job with both KLAX and KSFO. They were major upgrades from FS2K4. Flightbeam and FSDT subsequently did well enhancing the realism and "eye-candy" at these airports without destroying the framerates. I rarely fly in FSX to Phoenix and that's another reason why I'll pass on this airport. FSDT still has moving jetways with their airports. The moving jetways will eventually come back for all airports when FSDT releases their new airport services program. I just thought removing a feature provided in the default airport and paying for it to be removed was a bit strange to say the least. Then, after I anxiously got the airport and paid for it, I read you have to pay even more money if you want moving jetways by getting a program called AES. I think they could have included moving jetways with an option to turn them on or off in a configurator as I heard some complain moving jetways take up valuable FPS. Thanks for your comments.
