Okey, Kevin, I see what you mean. But your and the others tip is kind of open for misinterpretation. And I know from experience that many suggests to start (and load) the default flight (aircraft) in order to preload the scenery, but anyways it's good you cleared that up :)

Since I'm a future aircraft mechanic, could we have editions of PMDG aircraft, that can be taken apart with hand tools? And all that other stuff (Simulated of course) ;)

Robert, a quick question aimed solely at you. Will you guys at PMDG be creating a military variant such as the Royal Australian Air Force "Wedgetail"? I realise you cannot possibly simulate the radar functions, etc of this type of aircraft, so all I ask for is the external model showing the radar on the roof, plus the differences such as the wing tips and fins at the rear under fuselage, etc. Will you be doing this?

Matthew Bellette

Yes, will try this when I get home.
You can check this one out. Looks like it was designed for just such problems. "It is very important that you start FSX in a clean configuration before loading 3rd party aircraft. This is actually very important for any complex aircraft. You can create your own simple flight, but here is one that is very basic and should allow you to load any complex aircraft safely. The FSX Safe Startup for Complex Aircraft flight will show in your regular Flights menu in FSX after installing. You can re-save the flight in a new location, with different weather and start up times, but do not change anything else when saving this flight.Important! You MUST start FSX with this flight for it to be effective. If you start FSX with another flight, load this one, then go to your complex aircraft, you may get undesirable results.http://www.flight1so...SafeStartup.exeThis flight has 40 mile visibility, with light clouds of medium thickness." I would venture to state the PMDG 737NGX qualifies as a FSX complex aircraft. Ray

Thanks Ray, I know about that Flight1 utility however I was successful yesterday with no CTDs after following the advice to start FSX with a default a/c rather than the NGX so things are looking great at the moment :(

Since the ngx came out i had only 2 fsx blue screen freeze, the blue circle turning and fsx not responding etc. Hadn't installed any hotfixes, till on the weekend decided to intall the hotfix4 to keep up to date. Was hesitant to do this since i didnt have much trouble to date. So far everything is running good no ctds as of yet so now waiting for the sp1 to come out so i can download my livilies again.

I don't think so !!!! Computer Aided Design ( CAD ) is what you are looking for. This is a huge fileld and maybe if you Google a few things you might find something of interest. Maybe someone on the P3D platform will start something like this.Afterall is ahould be possible to simulate nearly anything now.

Thanks Ray. I would try this then...

So far so good with hotfix4, certainly no adverse effects. Without a list of changes from PMDG it's hard to know what's changed, but I see a modest performance increase. I still have a memory problem where having loaded the NGX I can't load another aircraft subsequently, not even another NGX version. I guess that FSX cannot release the memory the NGX has taken up. FSX either crashed with an OOM message or stops responding and has to close. Found I had max texture size setting at 1024, not 4096, in fsx.cfg. Corrected this setting and I can now load another NGX model. The exterior looks complete, but the panel does not quite finish loading. No initialisation countdown, EFIS screens are blank and the panel is inactive. Loading an aircraft type other than the NGX is no longer a problem however. Anyone have any ideas how to resolve the NGX panel loading issue? Kevin Hall

Your specs sure appear to be sufficient to run FSX and the NG. I would only suggest you make sure nothing else is running in the background. Some time ago one of the developers posted that the only tweak he uses (prior to win7) is while FSX is loading he opens up the task manager and increases the priority of fsx to 'above average' or 'above normal'. I have no idea if it helps but he was convinced that it did and he had some super duper designers working for him at the time. You could give that a try as an outside chance it would help. While fsx is loading (right click on the bottom bar and select task manager), click on the processes tab and find fsx.exe. Right click on fsx.exe and select one level of priority higher, confirm your choice, then close up task manager ( it uses resources also). You just never know which little tweak is the one that makes the difference. You might also take a look at the 'complex startup link' that I posted a little earlier. Ray

Following the advice to always start FSX with a default FSX a/c selected instead of the NGX seems to be the solution to the pmdg.dll unloaded CTD problem. Just completed a flight from EINN-ENVA approx 2.5 h long with no problems what so ever. Flying the NGX when everything works just fine really is enjoyable, the a/c is superb and did notice some things that have been improved. One of them was that the wing flex effect that seems much more realistic now...well done PMDG !! Looking forward to the final SP1 where you probably have fixed even more small details/issues and now after hearing you will also include the option to enable/disable MipMapped textures I'm looking forward to SP1 even more biggrin.png

Kevin are you using the 32 bit or 64 bit for your OS? If you're using the 32 bit, you may think of going to the 64 bit. The 32 bit will only see up to the 3 GB and the 64 bit will see it all. FSX is more processor/ram powered than video card powered, thus the more ram you have in your computer the better FSX will run.

There was word that the external model will undergo changes in SP1. Does that mean that the paintkit will be updated too, with the need to adapt existing repaints? Thanks

Ray, Thanks for the tip. "Above normal" priority did seem to load FSX faster but made no difference to the problem I have with replacing one NGX version with another. I tried High priority and that took too much resources away from Windows causing a crash. Kevin Hall

I'm using 32 bit Windows (my 3.12GB RAM is a giveaway on that). 64 bit would be an improvement, but you have to keep things in perspective. The NGX runs fine for me already, the only problem is in changing the NGX livery I'm flying. It's not worth the cost and trouble of upgrading to 64 bit just to solve that. Kevin Hall

I have had no single reproducible issue with the NGX since I bought it. I had an unstable phase affecting the whole of FSX, regardless of the addon or location, which was dealt with after I performed a TRIM of the SSD in which FSX is installed. I have no idea what version I have currently. I am aware that I installed some hotfix, though am no longer sure of which. I will probably wait for the service pack to come out, since the current version I have installed (2922?) is exceptionally stable. I would be so interested to know what the issues were and how they have been corrected.I wonder if the issues with hotfix installs are related to incorrect user privileges and as such the files are not being updatedAndrew.
