Naaaa. Most of us are enjoying a little chuckle about the situation. Flight could be a year from release so we have to entertain ourselves until then! A year is a long time in software development. Anything could happen!

That´s wrong. You have to be connected to E.T. to play Flight. That´s what the January-news said.

I want to be connected via Virgin Galatic Spaceport with USB 3.0 interface

People should just stop reading into it too much - accept it and move on.
Exactly, the assumptions and conclusions that are being drawn here are unbelievable. Some are saying 'good job Microsoft' like Microsoft have actually drawn conclusions themselves already when all they've done is sit tight and been honest that there is a Beta to come and they need a community manager. Incredible. Its in alpha - give them a break already. Microsoft have given us insight that a superior version is due, its not in beta yet and they want a community manager to improve communications lines and improve their website. In other words hold tight and the shiny stuff will come soon! Why don't some people get this? Its not difficult to comprehend.
You MUST be connected to the internet to play flight Alien.gif
How do you know that?

Agreed.

Isn't that an assumption you've just made? It might be pre-Alpha still. Sorry, couldn't resit that!

HelloBut that is the issue exactly, they have not really given any insight that Flight! will be superior. It will look better out of the box but we do not know anything about the scope of the product or what will be added beyond what is in FSX or more importantly what will be missing.Superior in some respects, but then FS9 is superior in some aspects to FSX (rain/snow ect)

Do some of you guys honestly think they are only going to model Hawaii?

Some guys? Yes.The rest of us that can read and understand what "the whole world" means? No.

I think what many of us are concerned with is not so much, will they include the whole world, but how good will that implementation be. In other words, will the rest of the world suffer from the same horrible mesh, land classification and polygonal data that FSX had.I wouldn't expect the rest of the world to get the same treatment as Hawaii is getting, but with the vast amount of free high resolution ERSI Shapefiles and DEM's available now, there is really no valid reason for Flight not to improve tremendously in this regard. Unless of course Microsoft spends too much time in Hawaii and too little with the rest of the world.

Mike Mann

Yes, this is very true. It will be interesting to see what the rest of the world is going to look like.

Mike, just how many double-layer DVDs do you think Microsoft should fit into the package? Yes, they could put a lot more into the retail product, but how much of it do people really care about?Any screenshots of your recent flights in South America or Africa? If not, why would you want another DVD or two full of that data? It only matters to me that if you did want that data that you had the ability to go out and get it, because the SDKs allow some one to make it.Do we really want to pay the price, because there will be a price involved if it comes from Microsoft.

I guess you have a point; if they included various DVDs to cover the world it would look too much like they were taking a page out of the X-Plane design philosophy, heaven forbid they should ever do that.

I care Meshman, I CARE! mostly because I don't want to be flying into any invisible walls.
