November 1, 201114 yr There are a lot of professional outfits that don't list addresses or phone numbers. They did fix it by releasing a service pack. Not archiving your setup file isn't their fault. How about this, instead of paying an extra $5 to redownload it, think of it like we got a $5 discount for keeping the installer somewhere safe.Edit: I don't think anyone has mentioned that they did keep our links alive through all the hotfixes instead of letting it expire in the normal amount of time. November 2, 201114 yr Why do we have to buy this freaking extended download? I have already purchased this machine. PMDG recommends us to delete everything in order to install SP1 and we have to buy extended download to make it work. It doesn't make any sense. It sounds like a free market here, like I do whatever I want. This machine is not functioning well, at least for me and how many SPs on the way? So every time SP is issued we have to buy extended download. My opinion PMDG has to resolve all issues first and then lock the product, but not before. I wish I knew their management contacts so I can call them and talk about this situation but looks like this is not gonna happen. Happy Halloween. The only reason you would "have" to purchase the extended download service would be if you deleted your original installation package.Sorry, but I just don't understand why anyone would do such a thing, but apparently, a surprising number of people have done just that. That would be like buying a new computer, loading Windows 7, then throwing the Windows installation DVD in the trash... November 2, 201114 yr Quote by David Lee Simits not my problem..u understand? just upload it on torrent and then everyone active it with the key received by email after the purchase. You are already violating the AVSIM Terms of Service (TOS) and by asking somebody to upload the installer as a torrent your also violating PMDG's End User License Agreement (EULA). This is Piracy plain and simple and will probably get you banned from the forum if you continuing asking customers to upload the installer to the Pirate Bay! Paul Deemer
November 2, 201114 yr You only have to pay the extended download one time because you screwed up and did not make a backup copy. Now with your extended download of $5.00 you can get the originally installer anytime you want to without paying anything more. It would still be a good idea for you to back up this time. The Service Packs are totally different and always available on the service updates page. So just accept it and move on. Service Packs can be found here: http://www.precision...ds/updates.html You know what, I DID NOT SCREWED UP, OK?I feel free to say whatever I want. I was in Boeing Field recently and shared my opinion with them about it and I was told that I WAS RIGHT!!!Thank you for response.OK guys, sorry if my opinion hurts anyone. I will continue to discuss my problem with PMDG directly. Have a great day. November 2, 201114 yr You know, it would be nice if PMDG offered free extended downloads (via support ticket) for say, the week or two after a service pack is released Romesh Abeysuriya i5-2500K @ 4.8GHz, GTX570 @ 860MHz, 8GB Gskill Ripjaws-X, XSPC Rasa RX240 WC, Antec 300 (Internal radiator mod)
November 2, 201114 yr I feel free to say whatever I want. I was in Boeing Field recently and shared my opinion with them about it and I was told that I WAS RIGHT!!!Boeing has nothing to do with PMDG and their business model. A Boeing employee can say whatever they want in answer to your opinion but it still does not mean squat. Look at it this way. If Boeing sold you a new 737-800NG with Manuals and you lost them all, do you really think they are gonna send you new ones for free? Dream On!Good Luck with your Support ticket. Paul Deemer

November 2, 201114 yr Author Everyone always seems to want to blame somebody else for their problems. When you guys purchase software it always tells you to make a backup copy somewhere on your computer in case you ever need to reinstall the software again. The fact that YOU DID NOT do this is nobodys fault but YOURS! So since you messed up and decided not to follow the instructions and recommendation of backing up you stuff, now you have to pay $5.00 for the extended download service. Why don't you take a chill pill and walk away from the thread when obviously you have nothing to contribute? Or are you just another omniscient having too much spare time? Then you didn't read your email very carefully. You seem to know my own inbox better than me then. Good for you. Now shoo.

Since when i went to download again went to my account and download the installer again found out it was the latest one with sp1 not my original base package I7-8700k,Corsair h1101 cooler ,Asus Strix Gaming Intel Z370 S11 motherboard, Corsair 32gb ramDD4,, gtx 1080ti Card, RM850 power supply Peter kelberg

This is Piracy plain and simple and will probably get you banned from the forum if you continuing asking customers to upload the installer to the Pirate Bay!Dear Paul, i wasnt referring to a user but in general to pmdg coz torrent costs 0 money. torrent doesnt mean 100% piracy and its not my fault if the torrent tecnology is used in illegal way. for example u can download the ORBX patches or REX overdrive in torrent from the ORBX&REX website!!! this means illegal and piracy? simply not!!!then in general: do u prefer to have an installer that include all the fixes or u like to install 1 by 1 by 1? personally i prefer the first choice but i cant because i have to pay it. ive founded my previous install and ill use it + SP1 and when the installer will be definitive and lock then ill pay for download it.have a nice daytime for a really long break from this hobbydavide lee
November 2, 201114 yr I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that Been a long time since I seen that movie, did not put it together until you mentioned it. Sorry HAL. Dear Paul, i wasnt referring to a user but in general to pmdg coz torrent costs 0 money. torrent doesnt mean 100% piracy and its not my fault if the torrent tecnology is used in illegal way. for example u can download the ORBX patches or REX overdrive in torrent from the ORBX&REX website!!! this means illegal and piracy? simply not!!!I see where your coming from David, but in this Day and Age Companies have to be strict and protect their Intellectual Property Rights the best way they can. My point was it is not up to the developer to store the software you buy and provide the bandwidth to you. It only takes a couple seconds to backup stuff to DVD and its good practice to do so. Makes things a whole lot easier and saves time in the event you ever have to do a complete format and reinstall.hi just to clarify if you purchase the extended download service i believe i could be wrong paul, is that you dont get your original installer but you get the latest with sp 1 included. Since when i went to download again went to my account and download the installer again found out it was the latest one with sp1 not my original base package That is what I would do if everything is stable to make it easier on the user, put it in an all in one installer. If you really needed the original installer for whatever reason and asked nicely I would think they would make it available as well. The whole point of what I was saying though was it's up to the user to make the backup at the time of purchase and not the developer. They do suggest that you backup and some people did not do that, so now they are upset they have to pay $5.00 ? Wow its not that much and the NGX is worth way more than we paid for it. There is nothing else out there right now that simulates the depth and scope of what PMDG NGX does. If anything its just a good lesson to remind people to backup their stuff. Storage is Cheap but Bandwidth is not. Paul Deemer
November 2, 201114 yr I had kept the original download and had no problem reinstalling. But...I play a lot of games and buy many games online. When I change computers or install a new system (pretty often and I have two computers- one at home and one at work), I often lose the original installers to my games. In the cases where the download had expired or I had installed the game on more than the allowed 2 or 3 computers, I NEVER had a problem getting a fresh install from the producers of the game when I sent an email explaining what happened.Sol I am not too happy about the PDMG policy of charging extra for a STILL LIMITED right to re-download. The excuse that the 700 Mb takes storage space is ridiculous, because they have to keep the download available for new users., and it costs NOTHING more to keep it available for previous customers. If the real reason is to reduce piracy, then PDMG is asking its customers to foot the bill for their anti-piracy protection. So great game, PDMG, and grats for great customer service, but no kudos for this re-download ripoff. Please change your policy to re-activating the download when users need it and request it.Henri Henri Arsenault

I absolutely agree that one single installer is the best way to go, thats why i didn't really quibble over $4.95 for extended download. Worth every cent for peace of mind. Rick Hobbs
November 2, 201114 yr I have got a response from PMDG. I am trying to have their address and phone numbers so I can talk to them. All websites, I mean professional websites have Contact Us link with phone numbers and address so people can reach them. PMDG is in the shadow, just this forum and support ticket option. I was trying to ask PMDG why do I/we have to pay for fixes?PMDG does great product, I am ready to pay more than $70 for the plane but I expect good support with no charges. Boeing in real life fixes all problem with no charge, because this is not customer's fault. What a day again Man, I have to disagree with you. When you purchase the software it was clearly stated that the link will be active for some time (otherwise they would offer you the extended download option). Like many people said in this forum you should have backed-up your installer...PMDG is not Boeing first of all, and this is indeed customer's fault.I don't blame they don't have phone numbers...They cannot loose time dealing with such requests. It takes less than 1 min as soon as you download the installer save it on 2 different drives/supports and you are then more than safe.
