It is likely that those navigraph fees will go up when this takes effect. They may be unavailable for a time while this is being worked out in the pits of bureaucracy.

OMG, some other organization charging a hosting fee. I guess their servers cost money too?

The point isn't the fee Jim - it's cutting off service to individuals that is painful. I find it especially so for government data that we already pay for. DJ

For my understanding, is there something in the tax laws or something pertaining to the FAA that states that all their data should be free? When I go here: http://faacharts.faa.gov/Catalog.aspx?a=AERO+NOS+CONTROLLER everything costs something so I am not sure what the issue is. Is the issue that something that once was free to anyone might now have a charge attached to it?

The Freedom of Information Act states that non-secure information be made available. It does not state that it has to be free to obtain.FAA publications like flight manuals are sold by the GPO and book stores as well. They already designate agents to sell the terminal procedure type books. This goes along with user fees charged at airports to pay the cost of FAA staff and operating expenses.Maybe it should be suggested to them that they make slightly outdated information available in volumes (digital) at greatly reduced cost for computer training purposes only.
