Microsoft "Drive" in the works?...

Featured Replies

I was reviewing the new November screenshots for MS Flight and as soon as I came across the two "highway" shots, I immediately thought that they could have come straight from a dedicated driving simulator/game. That road looks a bit TOO detailed for a flight sim...flightroad.jpgWhat if MS plans on releasing a flying/driving simulator based in Hawaii? One could literally drive to the airport and take flight from there... It would really take "as real as it gets" to a whole new level. It would probably explain the limited area being shown so far and would allow MS to market to the driving sim genre as well. Just a thought...

So long as you only want to fly in Hawaii.I get the impression that Hawaii is probably a high detail area, i wonder if the rest of the world is flat green tiles, looking like something from F/A 18 Interceptor on the Amiga. M$ could then sell us detail areas at a 'resonable price', it's certainly the way other software is going.

It looks like this is just a "reply" on those recent X-Plane 10 highway screenshots. And they probably had a hard time to find an appropriate place for this "reply" as maybe there are no freeways on Hawaii Islands....:-)

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wow! I must have hit a nerve with this thread. But have to admit that your reply was hilarious!Bugor, your reasoning certainly sounds plausible.

That HH fellow has some very nervous tendencies so don't mind his infantile replies. As for a real driving sim I think the graphics would need to be a lot better and much more detailed, but maybe this is a sign that we'll see sloped runways...

Simmerhead - Making the virtual skies unsafe since 1987!

No.
LOL... pretty much sums up my thoughts too. Although the roads look mighty impressive.

The island of O'ahu has a couple, three freeways

Sloping runways would be nice.Perhaps we could take our dodosim B206 up and "film" the street racers going on. Maybe even have a police cessna with radar enforcement on board. I'd hate to see what some people would figure out if the two were together in one sim. Grand Theft Auto online springs to mind...no thanks! :D

Wait a second guys before you beat of the original post....Remember that ACES was working on a Flight Simulator and a Train Simulator that was going to share the same engine?????You seem to be forgeting that.ACES was taking it in the direction of Flight Simulator but you can also simulate anything else.ALSO...Isn't possible to drive a car in FSX today??? Isn't possible to drive a boat in FSX today??? wWho is to say, perhaps the scenery they are working on for Hawaii can be used for Planes, Trains and Automobiles. It is an MS creation so they can do with it whatever they please.Cheers

I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me
