November 23, 201114 yr For the MD-11, the shortest flight I can find is PANC-KMEM (FedEx) Chris Ferguson PC Specs(Rebuilt 1/11/19): i7-9700K - Non-OC'd, EVGA RTX 2080ti, G.Skillz 16GB Ram 3000mhz, EVGA SuperNOVA 1000w PSU, Cooler Master ML360R, ASRock Phantom Gaming 4 MoBo, 2x 2TB HDD, 1x 1TB Samsung EVO SSD, 1x 220GB WD SSD
November 23, 201114 yr The shortest for the jumbos are usually maintenance sheduals. Example lufthansa sends their 844s from Frankfurt to hamburg. Recently the air France strike has made air France have to send their 744s to London because virgin is helping out with their maintenance Joe Barton
November 23, 201114 yr You could fly YSSY-YMML (Sydney-Melbourne) in a 747, which is about 1.5 hours - United flies this. This flight is the domestic leg of journeys like YMML-YSSY-KLAX. Also, you can do YSSY-YSCB (Sydney-Canberra) in the NGX, this is about 55 minutes- Qantas does this with 737-800's. I have done both of those and was going to suggest them myself. The 737 flight to YSCB is indeed about an hour long. 45 minutes of it is taxing around YSSY. It used to only run once a day (the first flight out to Canberra in the mornign), with the remainder of the day's YSSY - YSCB flights being in some configuration of a Dash 8. One of my first flights to Canberra was in the 737 and upon arrival (and much to my amazement), it was snowing.
November 24, 201114 yr For the MD-11, the shortest flight I can find is PANC-KMEM (FedEx)UPS does KSDF-KPHL (then KPHL-EDDK) which is about 1:15 as UPS204. They also do the return, UPS203. There are actually quite a few short MD-11 flights out of KSDF, I saw KEWR, KMSP, KDFW, KMKE, and a couple others all under 2 hours. Steve Caffey
November 24, 201114 yr This discussion has brought to mind a question I've been wondering. I know that airliners go from city to city to city sometimes, and not just between two cities, and I was wondering, how do I accomplish this in PMDG aircraft?Patrick BoyntonYou just do three flights. Takeoff from X land in Y park at the gate load a new flight into the FMC and go to Z.For the 744F and MD-11F really you can do just about anything. You will sometimes find Atlas 744s doing MIA-ATL or ORD-DFW etc.. For passenger flights its a bit harder to fine real 744 shorter flights. JFK-LHR or BOS-LHR come to mind. Also plenty of flights in Asia which are not long haul that use widbodies. FRA-DXB is not a long one neither is FRA-TLV.For the NGX anything you want: JFK-BOS, DCA-JFK, MIA-MCO, MIA-NAS, LAX-LAS, ANC-FAF, SXM-SJU etc.. NGX is made for short hopes and longer flights. November 24, 201114 yr Commercial Member Patrick-Head over to www.southwest.com and plug in any city pair.... You'll see a TON of examples of short haul flying for the NGX...Just this week I rode with them KRNO-KDEN-KBOS... The KDEN-KBOS is normally a 4+hr haul- and as much as I love the guys and gals at SWA, 4hrs is too long to sit in back on an NG... Fortunately we had 150+ on the tail so the trip only took 3hrs...Our crew was seeing mid-high 600s on the ground speed readout. Giggling like schoolgirls, they were.... Robert S. Randazzo PLEASE NOTE THAT PMDG HAS DEPARTED AVSIM You can find us at: http://forum.pmdg.com
November 24, 201114 yr For the NGX: (Yes, I know some of these are not done by airlines but they're pretty good length)KAUS (Austin-Bergstrom International) - KIAH (Houston Intercontinental) or vice versa.KAUS (Austin-Bergstrom International) - KSAT (San Antonio International)TNCA (Queen Beatrix International, Aruba) - TNCC (Hato International, Curacao)KEWR (Newark Liberty International, New York) - KPHL (Philadelphia International)EGNS (Isle of Man Airport, A.K.A. November 25, 201114 yr http://flightaware.c...ve/airport/KSANhas a number of shorter SWA flights. If you open up a light by clicking on the number to get the route be aware that some SWA flight numbers stay the same through the destination hops so check in the window that opens the origin and destinations. It is often with SWA a different leg with different origin and destination points then show in the flight list on the main page. The duration is often block times allowing for taxi, etc, not air times..
November 25, 201114 yr Shortest flight I made with the NGX was the first flight. CYVR- CYXX. A 45 min drive by car. Just to experience the T/O and landing as quick as possible.
