WED = World Editor - kinda like Airport Design Editor for the FS Folks...but free, point and click and hopefully, will allow us to upload our changes to the XP data cloud so others can get our changes in the next update cycle...

Just a heads up from Laminar's Facebook page...If you're getting your DVD in the mail today, PLEASE do NOT install from the disc itself. You need to grab the latest installer from the website (it's small) and run that instead.

Please let us all know how much better the actual version is from the demo. Please, we all need to know that is IS better.

you do know that the full version will be like the demo .. just not limited to Seattle or 10 mins.

I'm a statistic now. I read the back panel of the DVD book. It says for MAC users to download the installer from the updates.html page. True that the Windows installer errored on disc 7. It no longer found the files it needed and stalled. When exiting the installer, it said cancel to stop installing...then cancel again to delete partial installed files. BACK TO DISC 1 again I'm afraid. Good thing I have the next 2 days off to enjoy the spoils. Cuz I'm gonna be installing this one the rest of the evening.

That's bad luck. I can understand them saying install with an updated installer if it's to get the latest version but it's a bit of bad QA if the gold discs don't work at all.

It must be the moving target we have read about.

There is a bright side. While I agree that it sux that there is a separate installer now, once it's all installed, you never have to worry about installing it again. You can copy the entire XP10 folder to a backup hard drive (just in case of a HDD crash), then if you ever format your HDD and reinstall your OS, all you do is copy and paste the whole folder back to your desktop from your Backup drive. If you ever get a corrupt file(s), just run the updater and it replaces any corrupt files you have. X Plane does not create any registry entries so replacing the folder from a backup drive is no problem.

Thats one part of the unix heritage I especially like having on windows. The self contained application directory.

That is cool! I recently decided to move my fsx install from hdd to ssd, never again! Death by a thousand registry updates..
