got that too. though too late as I just recently upgraded to the actual AS version. Anyway, looks good though it seems to be basically AS with REX. Question is whether I will dump REX, will be a question of better interaction of the textures with the actual weather I guess and that can only be better than with AS and REX I am afraid as I can only set 1 set of textures in REX and then AS uses those for every weather. Anticipating that AS2012 will install the correct textures needed for the real world weather this could make me buy AS2012.

Damian says there will be a significant discount to those who recently purchased ASE - so not to worry. From the screenies I've seen the graphics are better looking than REX and you will be able to implement weather influenced textures easier. Of course, AS2012 will continue to support other graphics packages as before so the customer doesn't HAVE to dump something he just bought. From what I've seen, he might want to though. :)

Hi,That is correct, AS2012 retains universal graphics add-on compatibility, so you are not forced to replace anything. If you have existing graphics, you can use them in conjunction with AS2012 in several different ways.

I'm wondering what 'significant' and 'recently' actually to translate to....Praying.gifWhistle.gif

Better than Rex ? Kinda bold statement there. I have seen 2 nice clouds screenies that looked beautiful maybe like rex but better dunno. maybe it's just in the eyes of the beholder :-)

that is always purely subjective. AMOF I prefer FEX to REX overall. nothing wrong with REX but, TO ME, they are not realistic and they have a performance hit even with the 1024's. There are a lot of people that swear by them and a lot that swear at them. Purely subjective so yes, to me, from what I've seen so far, they are better than REX.FWIW, in all the years that I've flown IRL, I have NEVER seen cloud sets as dramatic as those put out by REX - never. But that's why we have more than one developer of an item, isn't it? :)

I finally got REX2 a couple of weeks ago, and could not be happier. Can't believe I waited as long as I did, I run the 2048 HD clouds, and they are just stunning. It has really transformed the sim for me.I was pleasantly surprised, I did not get anywhere near the performance hit I thought I might - runs very smooth for me.They may be perceived as dramatic, but wow they look awesome to me!

I actually had to Google this. Shame the texting generation has started to prevent us from using actual words. At any rate....

I'm not sure about that remark either. Thinking.gif Yes, of course the new shots look good but be honest, most of us already experience this quality by now. No taking away from what hifi and company has done of course. Baron you must have not been through all that REX offers, they have so many cloud files and styles to choose from. They are all completely different IMO, and it's not hard finding a realistic balance. Does REX really deserve that much disdain?

Looks like a great product.

First - it is not disdain - it is just my opinion.Second - I bought REX when it first came out and worked with the guys there to get it set. Just did not like the results. Believe me I tried more combinations than I cared to. For me, they were just not realistic and affected my system(s) negatively. However, I recommend that people try it on their own, if you can afford it. I can so I try the majority of new products, some I keep and some I erase. I erased REX. As I said, lots of people love it. For them, they are not wrong. So I stand by my earlier comment. I like FEX better than REX and it appears the AS2012 might be better than FEX.
