With 3rd party development being locked out, at this juncture, I can't conceivably think I will enjoy it.I like tweaking, tuning, fixing and creating for myself and others. It's arguably half the fun. After downloading it and looking around, unless it has some "Knock Your Socks Off" improvements over my existing FSX Hawaii(Mesh, Partial Photo-Real), I doubt it will hold my interest.Huh? Wha? That needle isn't centered, or accurate! Grrrr...No SDK....Don

What was the impression different?
Having a system that was better and solely bought for FS X, allowed me to evaluate the sim. With the similar addons that I installed, I found the FS enviroment far superior. Scenery addons that I had on FS 9 were imported, and made the enviroment to my liking. The default scenery was spectacular, and the framerates acceptable. If MS Flight cannot reproduce my enviroment or allow me to fix my enviroment on the sim, namely Georgia and Alabama, I will not get it, unless FS X is not supported by the FS community.

Don't bother waiting. There is nothing remotely configurable in Flight.

I'm frankly quite dissapointed about the ecosystem. I believe their ecosystem is to rip off as many dollars from DLC content. I personally believe that their DLC will NEVER reach PMDG standards or even near there. The graphics might be there but in my opinion, the systems, sound and Flight Dynamics will never reach their standard. I think the store is also shutting out 3rd party developers unless they are willing to accept high "revenue sharing". I also expected Flight to have the whole world already there like FSX but with better default textures and for the addon scenety, to beautify it to orbx standard but no, they disappointed me again.

"It's arguably half the fun." ...... you got that right... i believe that flying was the objective and rather enjoyed that over the not flying "tweaking" :(
I voted "yes" to buying scenery and aircraft, but that is entirely dependent on what I'm getting for the price point.Would I spend over $50 on something through MS Live if it's developed by PMDG? YES.Would I spend over $10 on a MS produced aircraft though MS Live? Probably Not.
+1. if the whole world is around mega_shok.gif bucks I am in, considering the level of detail. maybe even up to 100, but I would need high quality addons for heavies, not going to do just vfr or bush flying in cessnas, I need my pmdg.

Flight might be based on the full FSX sim engine but by locking out 3rd party developers they have excluded the majority of simmers who use FSX. I only upgraded to FSX in 2009 when most of my FS9 add-ons had been ported over and high quality add-ons had been developed. If the revenue model for Flight is unlocking default scenery areas and adding aircraft of default quality, they won't be getting any of my cash.

While things are fresh in everyone's mind, I wanted to run a short and very informal survey. I look forward to looking at the community's perceptions.
TomMay I ask for clarification? In question number 3 we see 'Nope, I could care less for the large a/c'.'I could care less' means that someone does care and that they have a measurable amount of care that could be subtracted - because they could care less, ie it's possible for them to.'I couldn't care less' means that it is not possible for someone to care less about something, indicating that the subject is of no interest to them at all.I thought prehaps this was another example of we Brits and Americans getting confused over our common language, but then remembered Clark Gable from Gone with the Wind and his line “Frankly, my dear, I don’t give a damn.” I even found an interesting link about it: http://public.wsu.edu/~brians/errors/coulddamn.html http://public.wsu.edu/~brians/errors/care.htmlhttp://public.wsu.edu/~brians/errors/couldcare.htmlSo I'm a little confused about the meaning of this question and may have answered it incorrectly. Please take this post in the spirit that it is intended. Friendly enquiry. :-)Best regards.

Over 10 years here and AVSIM is still my favourite FS site :-)

With FSX, 98 percent of my flying is IFR within N.America (to include Alaska, Canada, U.S. and the Caribbean). And most of that is in bizjets and twin-engine props. If Flight eventually covers these areas AND includes ATC, Real WX and the planes I like, I would almost certainly get involved with it. But until then...

Hmmmm Flight looks like a game now, it's ridiculous. Count me out if it remains like this - A game for kids.We want GOOD scenery yes, but also PROPER systems in aircraft, whatever they are: GA, Military or Commercial, not a game. Thank you.Caches? Missions? Oh man :(

Microsoft does not care what we want. Profits is what interests them. And we are not lucrative enough for them. And now they are even gonna lose that. They don't understand that this is not the way to come back. They will epically fail, and you can forget people buying another islands or even continents to fly around in missions. Not even kiddies - why would some kid go away from his BF3?

I hear you loud and clear. Shame they never learn :(

Well, for what its worth:If there is no PMDG, Realair, Carenado etc developed content, I won't bother buying anything at all.I will download it, try it then it will sit on my harddrive.MS 's big MISTAKE IS they can't make a plane like these guys ...period. It would take YEARS for them to learn to do anything like PMDG and it's NGX. No offense to the Flight team, it's just a matter of experience. Yes, they could make a pretty model, but I think that would be pretty much it. Our favorite developers have been doing this a long time. The Flight team has an Icon and a Stearman. Both look 'pretty" but after watching some of the vids, I'm kinda thinking they don't fly like the real sims do. I'll wait until it's released to make a final decision on it's flight modeling.

As far as Flight Sim is concerned I've always considered Microsoft to the the jack of all trades and master of none. Well, maybe one - the design of the core product that allows 3rd party developers to deliver a better alternative than the Microsoft one.But if Microsoft think they have the wherewithall to beat skilled 3rd party developers I think they're living in a fantasy world.Very disappointed in how Flight is being presented and it's extremely unlikely I'll invest in it. Once they started calling it a game that did it for me.

I answered in the extreme negative for all questions.Buying regions, even if the whole world is eventually available, let's say ASIA, AFRICA, MIDDLE EAST, RUSSIA, NORTH AMERICA, SOUTH AMERICA, NORTH POLE, SOUTH POLE, AUSTRALIA, EUROPE, NORTH PACIFIC, SOUTH PACIFIC, NORTH ATLANTIC, SOUTH ATLANTIC, INDIAN OCEAN for example, if I buy e.g. Europe, would I be able to then fly to Reykjavik from London, or would I need to buy e.g. NORTH POLE to get that area???Note: I'm trying to base it upon the FSX base areas. It is totally screwed up, and as such, I am not willing to participate in any form.Assume all scenery areas are $5 each (unlikely), then that still makes the world $75 before we are even started!!!! There is no mention how they will deal with the oceans, and still nothing on whether you can actually fly from one region to another!!!! I'd be quite surprised if no-one at MS was reading this, either. All these buy content schemes are just deceptive ways to get more money overall. "Oh it is only $10 for this, $5 for that", but before you know it, you've spent twice what you would have for the basic product had it been the full product to start with. I'm not an idiot consumer - I can see where I'm being ripped off!Best regards,Robin.
