So much for 'Flight'...

Not at all! There's those wonderful golden donuts in the sky that you can spear with the Icon A5! You should be thrilled! (for 30 seconds, at least...)
I was bored with it within six seconds. Brand new users pop up in a canned "Lesson" weaving around a series of hot air ballons, with no obvious means of escape. Everyone must endure the first two "Lessons" until they can reach the "Free Flight" screen. No way to choose to launch from any parking space at an airport. Blech!

LOL I seem to remember being skoffed at a couple weeks ago when I said there would be people that disregarded the NDA here,
Didn't go to the website yet, just got the e-mail. There is an NDA, so you are right, I won't talk about it; if you guys want to experience it, join the beta.

Hi,I consider FSX dead in the water because MS development has ended.
Sorry but this is one of the biggest loads of drivel I've ever read.FSX is more alive today than it was yesterday. It's absolutely vibrant. Even a year ago, it wasn't quite there yet, but now it is mature and still improving. FSX development by Microsoft ended in 2006? Anyone who looks at a great 2006 FSX installation and then looks at a great 2012 FSX installation will see the absolutely massive difference. Microsoft stopping development is completely irrelevant.

No need for it ;-)

I signed up for the beta, but I didn't get an e-mail. I guess not everyone gets picked. Oh well.

I couldn't agree more

Check out Greenbrier Aero Club, the VA for and about the GA pilot.

I hate to break it too you, but to Microsoft, we aren't their target audience! Whether we like it or not, the hard core simmer is just a niche market for MS. Their core demographic audience is the average gamer, who may be quite content with an arcade game. I'm thankful FS as we know it, has lasted this long. Much of the reason was the interest Bill Gates himself had in the FS franchise. Now that he's out of the picture, it was just a matter of time that the MS bean counters were going to make drastic changes such as this to how the future FS would be marketed.
for now we still have fsx. but fsx is getting really old, we need something better

Payware add-ons is what will make it better. :Love:My add-ons make FSX the best! I have no need for XPX or the new Flight. If you do your research, and spend some money, you will find lots of add-ons that make FSX much, much, better.

True FSX was ahead of its time in 2006 my computer at time maybe got fps 4 if that, now your average computer now can run fsx decent. In 2010, FSX had production shortages of their product FSX still not reached its potential in 2012. FSX still got legs.

Only up to a point. There are still too many bugs in the original FSX code that needs taking care of. Prepar3D adresses some of them, but doesn't take care of the fundamental weaknesses of FSX. Addons doesn't change FSX code or adapt it better to state of the art hardware.

Simmerhead - Making the virtual skies unsafe since 1987!

*Sigh*...looks like P3D will be the way to go in the future....I'll probably still check out Flight, if for nothing else but the novelty, but with the limitations stated, FSX will remain the sim of choice fo a while, which is fine. Too bad, though.....
Prepar3D is not the future for us home amateur flight simmers. It's just another expensive addon version of FSX and not really any upgrade for any of us. It's used for flight training at flight schools and for commercial use. Anyone who buys a license is simply throwing away hard earned money. You need to do more research and fully understand what this Prepar3D is all about. Google is your friend. Save your hard earned money for future spectacular addons to FSX and forget about all this hype about something Lockheed Martin is developing for major users like the commercial airline industry. It's also against the EULA for home use too but some are already trying to work around that by joining a developer's network. Kind of gives you a clue as to what Prepar3D is targeting. I'm sticking with FSX as I see no future in Flight or Prepar3D for home enthusiasts like me. I strongly advise others to follow...Jim

I feel the same way unless they find a way to make a true consumer version. So far, they have not.
