Let the Lawsuits Begin (satire)

Here’s a list of fictitious, but funny lawsuits that we’ll see next year. Disclaimer: It’s only humor folks, don’t bite. We could all use a laugh.Lawsuit # 1 – Nintendo sues Microsoft for Patent Infringement.Kyoto, JAPAN – Nintendo President Satoru Iwata announced today that his company was suing Microsoft Corporation of Redmond, WA for patent and copyright infringement. He said that the lawsuit was in response to how closely Microsoft’s new flying game, called Flight, emulated the look and feel of Nintendo’s Pilotwings Resort product. In a translated statement, Mr. Iwata said, “Actually, the kids like our product better because it’s more fun and in 3D.” He then added an emphatic, “Mocha Hagotdi!”Lawsuit # 2 – Lawsuit Filed by 3rd Party Flight Simulator Developers against Microsoft CorporationRedmond, WA – A consortium of 3rd party flight simulation software developers have retained legal representation in advance of filing a lawsuit against Microsoft Corporation. The group of companies claims that Microsoft stole their intellectual property for the release of its new “game-ulator” titled Flight. Regarding scenery in the game, one developer was quoted off the record as saying, “they stole our bloody trees, not just one of them, all of them, including the Australian ones.” A lawyer for another company said his client took offense to Microsoft portraying all of the recently released in-game jet aircraft as “PMDG Airlines” when really they were Microsoft’s own AI models from FS2002.Lawsuit # 3 – Lockheed Martin Sued for Not Offering RefundsBethesda, MD – Lockheed Martin Corporation (NYSE: LMT) said that it was being sued for breach of contract by approximately 125 customers who had purchased licenses to Lockheed’s Prepar3D simulation software. Customers claimed they were unaware that Version 2 of the Prepar3D software was a fully-functional and active online military simulator used in ongoing air combat simulations by the Department of Defense. In an e-mail to this reporter, one user said, “I was just using the sim to practice take-offs and landings when all of a sudden an F-22 Raptor intercepted me and shot me down. After that, the software presented me with a ‘game over’ message and wouldn’t work anymore.” A spokesperson for Lockheed Martin’s legal department said, “What did he expect? We’re a defense contractor. Plus, his license wasn’t fully legal anyway. Check six next time, buddy!”Lawsuit # 4 – Laminar Research CEO Sued for False Advertising, Harassment, and Property DamageColumbia, SC – Laminar Research CEO Austin Meyer is being sued by three users of his X-Plane 10 flight simulation software. One of the three users claims that the marketing materials falsely promised a “plausible world” in which to fly his virtual airplane. “Yeah, dude, I flew over my house and it wasn’t even the right color. I’m going back to FSX!” he claimed. Another claimant in the lawsuit said that he believed the “Melt your GPU” setting was “just an expression.” He continued, “I didn’t expect my video card to catch on fire, but it did. And, I wasn’t even getting the frame rates I wanted!” A third claimant said that he felt harassed in an online forum by what he claimed were “unwanted, unprovoked, and uncomfortable” pressure to start using the software by current X-Plane users.Lawsuit # 5 – A&E Television Network Sued over Hoarders EpisodeNew York, NY – A lawyer for several middle-aged men who are claiming emotional distress related to their appearance on the A&E Network television show Hoarders held a press conference in New York yesterday outside A&E's headquarters. The lawyer claimed the men were already emotionally hobbled by news that new software recently released by Microsoft was not indeed a flight simulator, but an arcade game. “They just snapped,” the lawyer said, “and A&E had no right to exploit their sensitive state when it filmed them for Hoarders. I mean these men were hurting, they didn’t know what they were signing. They thought they were helping others by seeing their suffering, but all A&E cared about was ratings.” As seen on the show, the men had filled an entire house with boxes and boxes of Microsoft’s Flight Simulator Gold Edition and spray-painted the exterior of the house with the phrase “The End is Near.”

Thanks Mat -|- Win 11 Pro, 14900K, Asus Strix Z790, 64Gb Corsair Vengeance, MSI 5090 - Hardware: MFG, Thrustmaster, Logitch, Honeycomb, Virpil, WinWing & Tobii. P3D v5 Pro, XP12, MSFS2020 & 2024 and way too many add-ons to mention! Simming since '95. Flying since '98.

The creative and imaginative postings now coming out, are signs that we are all indeed moving on....As another poster stated,There was anger, outrage, grief, denial, and then acceptance that this is what it is....with Flight, and we are all now moving on, back to the software that DOES emulate the act of flying. Part of the MS-you-screwed-us-and-we-now-move- on humor therapy. This post was fantastic! I applaud for its wry wit! Who knows...humor might take seed in fact. Hey, if a woman can spill McDonald's coffee on herself and land money after the fact also into her lap.....what about post-release Flight stress disorder? (Rubbing chin....hmm......).....Good stuff.

I'm glad you all got a chuckle. The idea came to me after two nights of relentlessly poring over posts on this forum, and becoming intensely agitated. I guess the last straw for me was hearing from Robert Randazzo of PMDG. After sleeping on it, the details started to come to me. I just had no choice but to put it in black and white (okay, pixels) and post it here, at the risk of offending some (not unlikely considering the tenor of the posts the past 72 hours). Okay, here's hoping everyone can take this with a grain of salt and good humor. Oh, and I tried not to spare anyone, including myself (you'll find me in the spray-painted house with the rest of the hoarders). Happy Simming (not gaming) -- Dana

@ Father Bill - Glad to help (just paying you back, my friend).@ tokermax - I wouldn't be surprised if something happened legally. Hmmmm, those trees look awfully familiar. Just kidding?@ Sesquashtoo - Yeah, I was tired of being p*ssed off. But, still, sign me up for your class action lawsuit (PRFSD, right?).

I believe that's one of the funniest posts I've ever had the pleasure to read here. Thanks :-)
