January 23, 201214 yr Was just curious what people are using for weather. I am currently using REX, but was wanting something more realistic. REX, to me, seems a bit glitchy once updating and whatnot. Was hearing some good things on the new Active Sky 2012. Was curious if anyone had any input on what they use and how it runs. Thanks. :) Dustin Baker
January 23, 201214 yr I use ASE weather engine with REX. I like it very much. The REX weather engine is horrible compared to ASE. U might wait till REX essentials is released too see what it offers in the weather gen department. Matt Wilson
January 23, 201214 yr AS2012 and FEX (It's paid for, why change). Small learning curve for 2012, read the manual and heed. Dan George (woodhick)Check out Greenbrier Aero Club, the VA for and about the GA pilot.
January 23, 201214 yr ASE and REX +FSUIPC(wind smoothing) create a fantastic experience IMO.Going to hold of AS2012..... for now

January 24, 201214 yr Moderator AS 2012 for me, with a combo of REX stratus, FEX cumulous, and Pablo Diaz sky textures.I've found AS2012 to be the best weather program that i have used for FSX so far, and that's having used ASE, ASE and the REX weather. January 24, 201214 yr I'm an ASE to AS2012 guy. There's a lot to be said for having everything in one place (textures, wx engine). Considering Hi-Fi has the superior wx engine, I'm going to stick with them.Hi-Fi has been pretty good to me. I was an early Active Sky Advanced adopter. All ASA users got a free ASE upgrade. Then of course we were offered a rebate on AS2012, so I'll be sticking with them. Although I have gotten somewhat arrogant responses when requesting support. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
January 24, 201214 yr I use ASE weather engine with REX. I like it very much. The REX weather engine is horrible compared to ASE. For me ASE has been a disappointment in many ways, so I abandoned it many moons ago and use REX. REX weather is quite good IMO, with the exception of the annoying inability to change its update interval to something much longer than the default longest miles. I've asked them to please include a better control as the blithering thing always finds a way to update itself when I happen to be on final approach! I hope they improve this in their upcoming release because as I say, REX weather seems quite good otherwise, for me . . . of course.Noel Noel System: 9900X3D Noctua NH-D15 G2, MSI Pro 650-P WiFi, G.SKILL 64GB (2 x 32GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6000, WD NVMe 2Tb x 1, Sabrent NVMe 2Tb x 1, RTX 4090 FE, Corsair RM1000W PSU, Win11 Home, LG Ultra Curved Gsync Ultimate 3440x1440, Phanteks Enthoo Pro Case, TCA Boeing Edition Yoke & TQ, Cessna Trim Wheel, RTSS Framerate Limiter w/ Front Edge Sync. January 24, 201214 yr http://www.hanse-cod...?page=self&id=1FSrealWX.... free+1 Excellent freeware weather generator. I use it with the REX textures. I have ASE but don't use it much now as the freeware program is smaller and runs much more quickly.
