But I agree with you. FLIGHT is looking like a disaster for all of us who dreamed of FS11
... but maybe not a disaster for Microsoft?

No, that is true. It might be a big success for all we know! I am going to try the free version and give it a spin, but my money is being saved for FS11 or equvalent software.

Simmerhead - Making the virtual skies unsafe since 1987!

I think these next 12 months will be a big "wait and see" period for both MS Flight and Prepar3D. In regards to P3D I didn't say they have already built the Playboy Mansion..just that they are currently building it. There are already a long list of improvements over FSX regardless of any current performance comparisions and from what I know (and again this came extremely close to the source, i.e., a person who had direct conversation with the developers the same day we spoke) P3D will be making many more major performance enhancements this year. That's all I needed to hear.In regards to MS Flight and what DLC will be available, I think it will take a full year to see what it's really all about, but again, from what I know...and I know... I'm really dissapointed with it. If Flight is a flop Microsoft may just decide to work on FS11 afterall but my gut says if they did.. a release date would still be at least two if not three years away from now. Personally I would not start throwing money at their new "arcade game" until I knew how much the entire world would cost with ~50 to 100 aircraft as well if it would have realistic ATC. Secondly, this assumes you even want to play an arcade like game. I certainly don't and I don't know about you folks but there is no way in hell I would shell out even $1,000 over 5 years to get what FSX delivers for under $100, or what P3D will give for $500. I'd rather pay the $10 / month membership to P3D for a year, have the ENTIRE planet, and install hundreds of FREE aircraft and scenery into it. For $120 for 12 months..I think I'll get my monies worth far beyond what MS Flight will deliver over the next 12 months. I could be wrong but I guess it comes down to personal preferences. As a real world pilot I simply want a real simulator. I create my own missions and have no desire to fly sim missions..that's just me. I have no need for arcade games nor a need to try and figure out how to get the real experience I want out of the game. Some people will probably really enjoy MSFlight and will not mind draining their bank account for DLC. For me though, If I wanted to fly an arcade game..I'd probably just try out some combat sims like Hawk 2, Wings of Prey, Rise of Flight, etc.. It would certainly cost less over the long haul.

I bet that for most of us, money is not the problem. It is the boredom of flying at a 100 knots over ocean with a plane that you cannot control the way you want, that you cannot look around in the way you want, in weather that is not what you want, going to an airport devoid of life and probably not really what you want...etc etcFlight != Freedom.

I am assuming that the Hawaii DLC pack only includes the main islands? It would be very nice to also have the Leeward Island chain out to Kure Atoll, but I'm guessing that this is not included?

As far as I know, it will just include the eight main islands of Hawaii (the Hawaiian Windward Islands).Hawaiʻi (4028 sq mi)Kauaʻi (552 sq mi)Kahoʻolawe (45 sq mi)Lānaʻi (141 sq mi)Maui (727 sq mi)Molokaʻi (260 sq mi)Niʻihau (70 sq mi)Oʻahu (597 sq mi)Maximum straight flying distance between furthest two airports is around 300 nautical miles.

Wrong again!! It would be $36.00 in "Happy Bucks" but will include the space shuttle with no cockpit!!

You don't have to buy the P-51 lacking a cockpit. Remember, "vote with your wallet".

Success or failure will not be determined by the positives or negatives comments on any forums. SALES of the DLC will! IT will be interesting.

Not too surprisingly, so is ABACUS. I know that many (most?) here turn their nose's high in the air whenever they're not laughing their posterior's off whenever any mentions them, but know this......Arnie is laughing all the way to the bank every week... :(

Funny sidenote. As I sat here typing the news had a feature on kids being hooked on Xbox DLC, warning parents about letting kids use Xbox!

Just imagine if they were hooked on both the Xbox and McDonalds.I hope no-one missed my point earlier - that just because something is successful doesn't necessarily mean that it's beneficial - that's a good thing for us. Look at all the trubbish that's on Television these days - reality shows, talk shows and over cheaply produced crap that draws in millions of viewers. Or the gutter press.Sadly, the majority of our population is stupid.
