February 5, 201214 yr My research have led me to four airliners that seems to be the best available for FSX. They all tempt me but getting them all is out of question. One thing they all share is that they are expensive. So cost is an important decision factor. Also performence is important since my system is rather modest AMD Phenom II X4 3.4 GHz , 4 GB RAM , NVIDIA GTS250 1 Gb Win 7 x64. Below I summarise what I think speaks for and against each plane according to what I have read about them. Some points are subjective and personal btw. What do you think? Should something be added or removed as valid points? The airliners I have in mind is1) PMDG 737NGXProVery good system moddeling and visualsGod performence for such a complex addonConGlass cockpit2) PMDG J41ProVery good system moddeling and visualsLowest price of these four addons.ConTurboprop which maybe means it difficult to make it realistic because of FSX limitations? What about performence?3) A2A B377 COTSProVery good performence according to Avsim reviewCareer mode gives purpose to flight. A thing I miss in FSXDeep simulation depthConThe plane looks weird and somewhat uglyMaybe a little bit to obsolate and primitive plane4) Concorde XProInteresting and very fast planeNo glass cockpitConMost expensive of these four addonsWhat about performence when arriving att big airports in such high speed
February 5, 201214 yr In addition to your list:PMDG MD-11PMDG 747Leonardo MD-11Level D 767Anyways, if you can only get one, I would recommend the NGX. Shane Gavin
February 5, 201214 yr The Level-D B767 would be worth a look...it'll perform OK on your fairly modest system, and it's a round-dial/EFIS hybrid panel (since you list an all-glass panel as a con). February 5, 201214 yr Author In addition to your list:PMDG MD-11PMDG 747Leonardo MD-11Level D 767Anyways, if you can only get one, I would recommend the NGX.I already have the PMDG 747 for FS9 and I don't wan't to pay for it again just to have it for FSX. Also got the LVD 767 for FS9 together with big printed manual. Also see that as a FS9 owner i can get the FSX version for $15 so yes this is worth considerating. Did you mean the Leonardo Maddog MD82 by Leonardo MD-11? If so I already got it and what makes me hesitate here is that it's no pure FSX product which from what I have heard is bad for performence.
February 5, 201214 yr I say the NGX, hands down. However, if you really don't like glass cockpits, go with the 377.Also, if you haven't flown many modern aircraft because you like older systems, the NGX can have quite a learning curve. Edited February 5, 201214 yr by boeing247 -Bram Osterhout
February 5, 201214 yr The 377 is a beautiful plane and demands attention. Really rewarding, and really, really good. - Aaron
February 5, 201214 yr The 747-400 for FSX can be had for under $30 from Amazon, and it has quite a few enhancements over the FS9 version. Shane Gavin
February 5, 201214 yr The 747-400 for FSX can be had for under $30 from Amazon, and it has quite a few enhancements over the FS9 version.+1. The queen of the skies is still one of the best planes for FSX IMO. Even with the NGX released.

February 5, 201214 yr snipI think your list sums up the options nicely. Though there are numerous other quality add ons, these you mentioned are the most well rounded and of very high quality compared to the rest.Big con about the Level-D is that it has a outdated VC, and it's not widescreen capable in 2D mode. There's a simple mod for this available in their member downloads. Looks and works beautifully. One that many people miss is the Simcheck A300, which is pretty darn good. Especially if the old 'Bus models interest you. Specifically if you like hauling late night and early morning freight. February 5, 201214 yr Big con about the Level-D is that it has a outdated VC, and it's not widescreen capable in 2D mode.Granted, the VC is not cutting edge, but a cutting-edge VC on the OP's system is likely to be underwhelming in the performance dept. As for widescreen, I have a panel mod I got from a link on their forums that does widescreen 2D just fine.
