Who will ever come close to pmdg?

VRS has managed to produce a working FLIR pod for their Superhornet, on top of getting completley multiplayer compatable combat operations to work. I think they deserve as much credit as PMDG.

With the NGX and the 777, Boeing simmers, like me, will have their long and short-haul needs satisfied for a very long time to come. I personally never had trouble with Level-D support. I take into consideration that they work on their products on a part-time basis. They've always been responsive to any queries that I've had in the past. I wish them the best.

Once I posted in the level-d forums about the bug concerning engine spooldown sounds not playing when cutting off fuel.I think I said something close to "others have had this issue" which was true...I had done a forum search and found other posts about it.I was promptly told by level-d to "speak for myself" in a very arrogant, rude attitude.I haven't gone back to their forums for help since.

Captains...It's nice to see all the reply's in here how you think off PMDG products, however discussing support sections about other airline developers was not my intention. We all know PMDG has a brilliant support and that they are always there to help us .Other add-on developers might be just as good or a little bit worse that's different for everyone but that was not the reason why i started this topic.I am not intending to keep people from there personal opinions but i do want to ask to discuss this somewhere else.

What is the LDS767 issues with FSX? I have it for both FS9 and FSX and have not experienced any major problem.

Well, it flips over sometimes when you enter the cost index, the FMS blanks when you start the engines(admittedly, they fixed that bug, however are calling the fix a 'beta')

Guys, this thread is going to get deleted if people keep knocking other providers. It breaks forum rules on respect and relevence among others.

I have never had this happen but it might be because if have SP2 rather than Accelleration.

PMDG have always been the tops for me not only in terms of depth and the sheer quality of everything they produ,e but the customer service and professionalism of their staff is first class. I hope Robert keeps it so because this company is a class act.Level D did a great simulation but as everyone else has commented its looking dated now. The Flightsim Labs Concorde is fantastic . The Maddog MD80 is also a great in-depth simulation although I have had a few issues with it in FSX. I don't think anybody has mentioned the Flight1 ATR - yes I know its a port from FS9 but it is still very good.I genuinely believe that PMDG have raised the bar with the NGX and I can't wait to see the triple 7. I am also keen to see the FSLABS Airbus. I know I'll probably be shot because of all the Boeing fans on this forum (I like Boeing honestly) but nobody has yet produced a decent Airbus for FSX and given the number of A320 - 60s in service its a HUGE gap in the market. I know its really tough to properly simulate FBW airbus laws in FSX, Airsimmer tried and failed, but I think FSLabs may the ones to pull it off.The other thing I would like is a decent Cessna 172SP - I am learning to fly in real life and would like to practice between lessons but the default Cessna really doesn't handle like the real thing far too jittery.

Level D customer service, the few times I've needed it, has been extremely courteous, quick responses, and concise factual information that worked for me. While the graphics, after 8 years, may be a little dated the Level D 767 is still a superb rendition of the type and at the top of the food chain for a 767 for flight sim X. Should they decide to produce a 757 I will be a customer.Dave

Personally, I don't like PMDG very much, they ruined every other add on, barring one (LevelD 767), that I own, but I suppose it is unfair of me to blame PMDG for my absolute addiction to the realism and immense quality of their products. Elsewhere on this site I, obviously foolishly, stated that I will skip the 737 NGX and wait for their 777 instead, well, that was a big lie, as not long after that I bought the 737 NGX and every time I do a flight in one of them, I can't help but wonder why on earth I ever thought I wouldn't buy it. For what I prefer in an add on, PMDG is absolutely ideal. Obviously, that is a personal preference, and when I say the other add ons were ruined, it is not because I think they are bad products (far from it in fact), I simply prefer add ons which are as close to the real thing in terms of flight systems as one can get, and there I think PMDG is at the forefront. Now, if anyone from PMDG is reading this, is there any chance we can come to some form of agreement, where as an act of penance for making me prefer highly detailed add ons, you agree to purchase all my other add ons, the funds of which I will use to buy your forthcoming 777? :wink:PSI realise I am still new here and since the internet was invented mostly as a means to determine the exact number of ways in which people can misunderstand each other (been there plenty), I just want to clarify that a lot of what was said above was done so tongue in somewhat demented cheek. I don't blame anyone for anything and I am a huge fan of PMDG :(

Really I think there's 3 major obstacles to other Dev's doing what PMDG does.1) Limited talent pool: They're just aren't that many really good developers out there interested enough in Flight Simulation or aviation in general willing to work for the relatively small residuals one obtains from Flight Sim addons. No doubt the best of that limited talent pool would want to work with the best addon producers.2) Development time: Close to 3 years development time per PMDG level Aircraft by my estimate. It makes one do the cost benefit analysis of doing a lesser detailed version in a shorter dev time and likely turn a decent profit considering the lower development cost.3) Research: Some of the information resources PMDG likely has available to them are not so available to other devs. Most of them even if they wanted to do an NGX type product would have a difficult time obtaining all the necessary data to produce it. I think it's no accident that best 2 Aircraft addon devs group were started by Commercial Airline pilots. That level of systems knowledge along with industry know-how and contacts is difficult to obtain for those not in the industry. So yeah, we probably won't see many other PMDG/NGX level FS Aircraft addon developers, they are unique, enjoy them.Regards.Ernie,
