Who will ever come close to pmdg?

Hello captains i thought i should know how i feel about this great companyIt aint no secret that we are very spoiled simmers with PMDG we get the best from the best and looking at the competition they are almost close till no close at all especially when we talk about te NGXbelow some facts about the past of PMDGStarting with the 737 NG 1.0 for FS2002/2004 it was an airplane pmdg wasn't really happy with but the truth is that it has been the best selling 737 for many years untill the Ifly came alongThen it was the turn for the the 747-400 still today it is the best 747-400 simulation ever made and the truth learns that no one comes close to it and no one is planning to make a new 744.Then the JS41 came in town no one ever did or remake that airplane no one is planning to either it raised the bar once again in terms of functionality and eyecandy. Then the MD-11 came across while there is also another one out there but it's far from PMDG quality every time you fly online and you see an MD-11 i think it's safe to say that there is a 99% chance it's the PMDG one once again the bar was raised again from eye candy till systems functionality.THEN THE NGX it is clear that PMDG blown the whole competition away while ifly tried to do it but still today there NG is far from the quality as PMDG and it's very unlikely they will ever come close.(not intending to start a debate about Ifly and pmdg here)Now the 777 is under development ok there are some company's who made that airplane but at release time it wouldn't surprise me that everyone wants to fly the PMDG Because we all know how the bar was raised from past to present so yeah a 777 in NGX quality or better how spoiled can we be?My conclusion is every time a new jetliner was released the bar was keeping raised higher and higher IMHO no one will come at the same level as PMDG makes these airplanes except for level-d with there 767 and upcomming 757.Just my thoughts about it let me know how you think of itA loyal PMDG supporter.

I completely agree with the high standard of products we have been provided with by PMDG but personally never understood the hype surrounding the Level-d 767 . I do own this aircraft and found that the panels and overhead in the vc were not anything special at all, in fact I found them to be a bit of a disappointment but maybe thats because I am so used to flying PMDG. One aircraft I am especially happy with is the Maddog MD- 80which is getting slightly outdated ( I'm sure they are working on a new version or an update over there) but is still one of the best out there for fsx. I believe the MD-80to be underrated and I don't see too much discussion about it over here at Avsim.Rich

LDS 767 was migrated from fs9 for FSX users. It was never designed purely for FSX.If anyone ever makes anything comparable, it will be Level-D and their 757 that might come out before the world ends. :(

I think the Maddog is at the same level, other than the graphics of course. At least at the same level. In some cases its ahead of the NGX. Not that the NGX sucks, its awesome

Considering the Level-D was released nearly 8 years ago, and still remains the most realistic rendition of the 767 or any other wide-body Boeing (barring the "Boeing" MD-11). That's why. The MD- mega_shok.gif (jeese, these faces... eighty!) Flythemaddog seems less accessible, though I do love it.

I'm on the same page with the OP. The 1900D was the first payware a/c I bought for MSFS. I've bought all of PMDG's products, except for the LCF add-on. All of them have set the standards at an all time high when they were released.I have bought from other companies in the past until recently. I know a lot of people have their own opinions as far as what other products are of high quality. I think PMDG is the best of the best. If I were to name a second and third place, it would be A2A and RealAir. A2A makes some amazing warbirds, but those types of aircraft don't phase me. RealAir makes and awesome Beech Duke for all of those GA pilots out there. As for me, I like getting in depth with systems and really understanding how they work. The fact that PMDG goes all out to simulate products to dam near 100% functionality, that's a winner in my book.

Let's not forget that FSL was started by an ex. PMDG developer.

X-Plane 12 and MSFS2020  🙂

System specs: Windows 11  Pro 64-bit, Ubuntu Linux 20.04 i7-13700KF  Gigabyte Z790 RTX-4060-Ti , 32GB RAM  1X 2TB M2 for X-Plane 12,  1x256GB SSD for OS. 1TB drive MSFS2020

I didnt like the way the Level-D team treat thier customers so I steer clear, but the aircraft seems very good even if the graphics are a little dated. They also have outstanding issues that I dont think will ever be fixed.

I like the level D and it was what I flew most before I got used to the NGX. Agree a bit with not liking the way they treat their customers (no personal problems, just from reading the forums.) I definitely like the combination of software and community at the forums here more.

PMDG is the top of the class in terms of commercial jets currently, the NGX is in a class of its own, the MD11X is still an all time FS favourite of mine.A2A is the classics/warbird equivalent of PMDG. The accusim range is second to none in its aircraft range.PMDG's DC-6B is going to cross that bridge a little... As I have written on a number of fora, things could not be better for us FSX users at the moment. I just wish I had more time in the day to spend in the NGX and so on...Andrew

Agreed! Planning to design my own desktop MCP, started to search for parts, and time go drained :(

Learning to use and getting use to FSX!

There are two ways you could take the OP's comments - 1) Everyone else is wasting their time and should close down - no I don't think so either, or 2) the standard is getting higher and higher and everyone must pay attention to keep up.The examples above prove my point, the Level-D 767 was once rated the pinnacle of sim development, it is now considered dated if not actually past it. Some are suggesting the same thing of PMDG's own 747. That said, comments about Level-D's treatment of users surprise me, exactly how long do you think you could keep answering the same questions over and over again before you starting telling people to stop being lazy and rtfm! Theirs is very much a support form as opposed to the discussion model that PMDG adopts. There are a number of other developement houses on par with PMDG in their own areas. You only have to read the comments from RSR, Ryan and Vin to realise how much mutual respect there is in this industry.

Paul Smith.

Here is my take on this topic:PMDG - Ultimate Airliner Designers (have NGX, B744/8i, MD11)A2A - Ultimate WWII Warbird Designers (have WOP3 Spitfire & P-40)VRS - Ultimate Modern Fighter Designers (have F/A-18E, soon to have their TacPak)Also I have the LDS 763, the Maddog, CS 707/757/767/777 'shell'/C-130, FT B733/4/5, FT Airbus, Aerosoft Katana (awesome GA plane, probably the best out there now, along with the A2A J3 Cub), Airbus X, IRIS A-10 & F-15E, Milviz F-15E, and several others that escape my brain at the moment. The three at the top are all #1 developers for their respective aircraft types and categories, IMO. (Eagerly awaiting the eventual release of FSL's Airbus, which will be on par w/PMDG's current status....we will FINALLY have an A320 series worth its salt for FSX!)
