February 29, 201214 yr Commercial Member Now don't you agree it does look a bit like FSX ?Take the same screenshot in FSX and post it. Kevin Miller 3D Artist and developer
February 29, 201214 yr to get back to the toppic: what i read was a child calling others childish: "it didn’t implement big iron and VATSIM ** coming out the arse"again and again: to made a nice looking game, they didn't make a simulator. And apart from that, after crashing 8times [something goes wrong with the joystick] and before hitting my wife or the cat, i stopped "playing" and started "flying" from LRCK to LDZA in the beautyfull 737-700NGX any thing that moves, moves me
February 29, 201214 yr Don't like my posts, then just skip over them.My response is accurate... how does your post contribute to the forum?I don't want to have to wade my way thru a forum like a soldier in a rice paddy looking for posts that actually contribute to the body of knowledge or are useful in some way (either to myself or others). If you were a beta tester, how did "he lose you"... you would already know the scenery is outstanding.Six years of progress ?It's the same kind of scenery I would expect from Orbx. This "Six years of progress ?" is the kind of response I would say is akin to trolling, or trying to instigate an argument rather than actually trying to contribute something worthwhile.Maybe you are trying to "elevate" the conversation... I just don't see it that way.
February 29, 201214 yr I admit to being troubled. The article is strongly worded, but I find myself in a bit of sorrowful agreement. Some sites seem to be almost ignoring the introduction of flight, and the comments appear to be of people eager to show their "real" simmer credentials by heaping scorn on this new entry for its bad taste in seeking financial success rather than fulfilling their more narrow desires.Flaws that are accepted or excused in other Sims are drawn in to the sharpest focus possible, and while in some instances the flaws seem quite legitimate, the "Its new, give it a chance" tolerance that is expressed when similar flaws are shown in other efforts is noticeably absent.Nastiness is said, metaphorical fists are waved, and despite the best efforts, the smoke from self immolating threads darkens the sky over what could have been such a hopeful event for the community. It speaks ill of us, and from the outside, smells of a foot-stamping tantrum, ending in sour grapes, fermenting sullenly in the hot sun. February 29, 201214 yr My response is accurate... how does your post contribute to the forum?HelloWhat does your response "I am so weary of useless posts (like that)." contribute ?The scenery when you really look at it is far from outstanding " that's just my opinion"Look, you think my posts are useless, that's fine. But the thing is, as long as I do not attack your or anyone else's opinion I can contribute whatever I want both positive or negative. What you really meant to say was"I don't want to have to wade my way thru a forum like a soldier in a rice paddy looking for posts that actually fit my way of thinking"Have a great time with Flight! there is room for all sorts in this hobby.Cheers

February 29, 201214 yr Is that default FSX?Yes, I have no addons for Hawaii or the USA installed, and only adam mill's default set of textures installed but as this was shot in summer they are strictly default showing,I have turned off active sky here and selected Fair weather from the FSX dialog for fairness. Now if I were to throw REX, GEX and UTX into the mix, well it just would not be fair to Flight! really

February 29, 201214 yr I enjoy FSX not so much for its graphical prettiness as for the combination of quite good graphics and the opportunity to gain a little insight into even the most complex of aircraft operations. Flight was not made for people with my agenda and it may never become suitable for us. That is not a reason to hate Flight, much less is it a reason to hate people who like Flight.Being as dispassionate about it as I can: I thought the beta version of Flight had some nice touches such as the dusk effects, including not only the sky and the clouds but also the scratches on the windshield which catch the sunlight. But overall I must admit I thought it was oddly underwhelming, even viewed as a pure "game". I just don't get it. I think the same of the launch version.HOWEVER, there were several big unknowns during the beta and they haven't gone away with the launch version. In my view the main ones are: where will MS take this product? What extra content will be available? In what timeframe? At what price? And will the performance improvements endure, once / if MS start adding back the demanding components such as configurable weather, ATC and AI, which were present in FSX but (it seems) have been stripped away from the launch version of Flight? Therefore, IMHO, it is still too early for people with my preferences to take a settled view of Flight. At the moment, it offers nothing of any interest to people like me - but it probably wasn't supposed to do so, at launch. I am also doubtful of the new business model which I fear will make it prohibitively expensive to re-build a FSX-world in Flight. But I remain hopeful that EVENTUALLY there will emerge a credible migration route into Flight for those of us who are basically happy with FSX but ideally want it souped up a bit in terms of performance and prettiness.I certainly would not dismiss Flight out of hand for all time, just because it doesn't suit me at launch.Tim 14900ks, RTX4090, 64Gb@6000-30-36-36-T2, Samsung 990Pro 2Tb , Dell G3223Q 32" 4k Gsync + 27" secondary monitor. February 29, 201214 yr I love the way the cat that wrote the review says he is happy that MS stuck it the FSX community because it doesn't have big iron and vatsim ** coming out of there arse (his words). Real positive banter from him guys. What an a**hole!! Avsim closes and bans any thread with negative context about MS Flight but this guy is revered on here for his negative remarks about the hardcore simmer???? Look there are casual simmers and hardcore simmers neither one wrong for being what they are. Having said that MS Flight is for the casual simmer hop in push up the throttle pull back on the stick and your flying around. And thats great I hope MS sells millions of copies of the game and the millions that buy it have loads of fun and I hope it gets more people into flying it's an easy way in no learning curve and as they get better in Flight might just bring more people to FSX and hardcore simming. I have noticed while reading a lot of these post that the discontent flows freely both ways not all one-sided as it is made out to be. Most hardcore FSX guys are not going to like Flight and thats ok we were hoping for FSXI. But they should not be censored by one-sided forum mods, It is a forum to discuss all things flight sim related period. If the hardcore guys feel a little slighted thats their prerogitive. Bottom line, It has been expressed by the hardcore FSX simmers in many ways some negative and jabbing at Flight in these forums that we're not happy with Flight. But I think if you take away all the jabs and negativity all we are really trying to say is Now that there is a brand new sim for the casual market we FSX guys hope that maybe MS could re-visit FSX and at least put out a SP-3 if not FSXI It's been a long time coming and way overdue!
