March 5, 201214 yr Wait a minute! How dare we have fun!Yeah, I wanted Flight to be all about flying Atlas Freight 737s between Schipol & Frankfurt, at night, in cloud and on autopilot the whole way - that's seriously hard-core simming! Having competitions with people you just met in multiplayer to see who can fly under that low bridge in Hilo, in the Icon, oh, and inverted? That is FUN!Playing Stay-on-your-six between an Mustang & an Maule? That is FUN!Using the RC view mode ('R' key by default) to take photos of your own plane flying under a bridge? That is FUN!Landing the Maule in the silliest / smallest places you can find? That is FUN!No wonder so many "hard-core" simmers hate Flight, it's too much excitement!

Very well said!I had all sorts of GoFlight hardware & stuff (over $1500 worth) to make my sim "cockpit" more real, but in the end lost the FUN of stick-&-rudder flying that Flight has gone back to. In FSX, I'd spend more time prepping for a flight than I did flying. An then, as soon as I was gear up, I was on AP until FAP if not all the way down to contact w/ the runway.I'm loving Flight! (So much so that I don't regret selling all my hardware on ebay one bit.)WildBill
March 5, 201214 yr stick-&-rudder flying that Flight has gone back toI landed on a very small roof last night in the Maule, in a crosswind and in the dark, too. The other guys flying around were amazed; how did I do it?With full flaps, the Maule is just controllable at about 55kts, and you really have to fly pitch-for-speed-power-for-height. Once you've touched down, weave like crazy (carefully, you don't want to ground loop) to make your landing space 'longer'. Basic stick & rudder stuff!I freely admit to being more interested in GA than heavy iron - flying the Airbusses and Boeings was only really challenging when something went wrong. I have always found that setting the AP to FD mode and switching it on, while realistic to some extent, is also very boring; you could simulate it pretty well in Excel. In fact I think they did, IRRC.
March 5, 201214 yr Wait a minute! How dare we have fun! After all flying is such a "serious subject..." Isn't it? :pardon: We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically. March 5, 201214 yr Oh, and another thing...AI!? No kidding, there's AI? I thought all the anti-Flight flamers told us there wasn't any AI! (And yes I know what they really meant.)Still, this has potential...WildBill
March 10, 201214 yr The Clandestine Cargo missions rarely pop on the job board. Just keep checking the grass runway airports with no towers. When I saw it for the first time, I ignored it, then later wish I would have done it right away because it is rather rare. It took me a long time to find the next one. At first I thought they were only at night (keep your lights OFF at night), the mission I actually completed the first time was during the middle of the day. I'd venture to guess you can NEVER take the direct route. Each time I have, Flight throws an airborne Sheriff at me which I haven't been good at avoiding, basically I think you have to make a 90 degree turn at the first sight of authorities and go quite a bit out of your way. The mission I actually completed, I didn't run into any airborne Sheriff but I purposely took an indirect route from the start. If the Sheriff gets within .1nm from you, toast. Oh by the way, love the paint scheme unlock. Most of the kids don't have it (lack of patience) & I like to toy with them sometimes :) Jason BocheDelta Virtual Airlines Assistant Chief Pilot, B767-300
March 10, 201214 yr I did my first clandestine mission last night i think.. I headed to ocean and stayed there until i cam close to the destination. Only saw the law the 2 seconds he was in range. the rest of the flight was peaceful :)
March 10, 201214 yr I just finished my 3rd Clandestine Cargo run. All over water and all at 200-300ft altitude and full throttle. Spotted Police each time but did not attract attention. Landed one mission on fumes. 80nm hunched over the joystick gets mighty tense. Princeville to Dillingham is a good run. I think the jobs show up more often after a couple successes. March 10, 201214 yr Are there any clandestine missions on the main island only (no Hawaii adventure pack) ?
March 10, 201214 yr what happens when you get caught?Your copilot shouts "Great, there goes my career!". Mission failed.
March 10, 201214 yr Are there any clandestine missions on the main island only (no Hawaii adventure pack) ?Yes. You'll still have to have the Maule. I don't know if they show up if you don't have the Hawaii adventure pack, but I've had a few myself. I've got the full DLC.Just keep checking the magenta airfields. If nothing shows up, change the date and try again. They won't appear on blue airfields.Hook Larry Hookins Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of EarthAnd danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
