This could easily be solved by just having Flight automatically disabling AI air traffic when in MP.
Well, that's the real problem right there, Arwen. You are always in MP if you have Flight running at all. It may well be a "Private" session, but it is still MP!

Hmm, if I'm always online what happens when I do a mission... Could for example another player have seen the AI yacht in mission 1 maybe?-

Even when you are offline?

Dunno, but an interesting question. Need to do a test to see.There's also a boat in the kayaker mission, that's not there at other times. I don't think it's there on the way back from picking the guy up. Another test.What about the static planes on the ground in the fly-in events?So much to do, so little time.Hook

Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;

This is just a suggestion: How about an AI compromise? Ground traffic on & off airport as a free core upgrade. We do need some signs of life.Long Haul Commercial jet AI only as a free core upgrade. With an option to shut it off. Since the scenery areas are discrete worlds, AI aircraft could spawn at the edge of the scenery and approach & land at appropriate airports. AI aircraft on the ground could taxi & depart on schedule and disappear at the scenery edge. Since it would not be necessary for true world wide AI being loaded at one time, the performance hit should be minimal.General aviation traffic (and short haul commercial) could be live multi-player human controlled aircraft. Traffic at non-controlled fields would also be player aircraft only. This would also allow for non controlled fields to be sloping runways etc.Those measures should bring a spark of life to the sim without a lot of pain.Although I am generally opposed to canned ATC, a simplified port of FSX ATC & ATIS should suffice to help players interact with AI jets. Since code exists for these things, free core upgrade should be possible.

What I have discovered, much to my surprise, is that you are never truly "offline" unless you physically disconnect yourself from the router. In other words, even using the Home/Gamertag/Disable Auto Sign-in process doesn't really disconnect you from LIVE like it is supposed to...

Can't you "sign out" from Live! and effectively be offline at that point?

That's how I was set up yesterday. That didn't keep you from finding me though, did it? :Thinking:It was that "notice" that got me to actually start looking deeper into what's really happening!

Once you are inside FLight you can do the LIVE "sign out" but will force a flight shutdown.so it is NOPE

What else would you like Microsoft to provide free - the equivalent of FSX?Incidentally, because FSX code may exist that doen't mean there's no cost in adding it to Flight.

The whole world map, even in low res. That used to be included since long time ago. (Before FS 2000?)But that won't happen.ATC, FP were free, with whatever limitatins they had, was better than nothing.BTW: I really like and enjoy Flight, for what it is, and what it can be.

I suppose that adding ground traffic would be rather cheap as opposed to modeling entire sceneries and aircraft DLC's.And the lack of life in the Flight world has been a big gripe for many when they ran it for the first time. I think it would be smart for MS to make that available to everyone.

Tom

Most gamers (the "typical new user" who has "never even heard of FSX") expect BOTH MP and AI, because some of the most popular games include both . . . and games like Mass Effect and Oblivion and Skyrim are only AI/single player games (or primarily). The same is true for most racing games . . . that provide BOTH AI and MP racing.Yes, I've had "the same opportunities as I have to study Flight and get some idea of Microsoft's focus and direction" as you. Yet you seem to feel that Flight is perfect as it is, and I feel that it is going to fail . . . unless they expand the simulator aspects of the game . . . which includes AI and ATC. In my opinion, MS has made some really bad decisions with Flight, by catering primarily to gamers. And these bad decisions will continue to turn flight simmers off. And I just don't see Flight competing as a game.I've stated this since day one of the beta testing.
I agree...most current gamers expect a more dynamic living world out of ANY game they play.

If you think that's bad, try playing any Ubisoft game without an Internet connection.
