I rebuilt my PC last Sunday & haven't re-installed Flight (yet). Another war bird w/o a cockpit to boot is another failure.

I can't imagine what the MS Flight work place must be like. War bird enthusiasts talking about war birds 9 hours a day everywhere you go - the lunch room, the water cooler, the bathroom, endless war bird meetings in war bird conference rooms. Copious amounts of war bird photos and blow ups on the walls and hanging from the ceiling. Everyone at that company is in lust with war birds.

I do not think all of them have mental issues. I think only Joshua Howard loves cockpitless warbirds.

He is also firmly determined to release lot of them in the future.

Sure, it may make sense from a business point of view, but why make a living of creating flight simulators if you don't even wanna program a working cockpit? I thought the team consisted of flight enthusiasts.

Btw, I love Flight. Just a bit tired of Hawaii.

I think you answered yourself. If people like Flight (and buy DLC) also with this kind of simplified offers, why should MS raise the engagement, and costs, to develop something more serious?

They have three warbirds without cockpits for sale in the marketplace. They wouldn't keep adding planes with no cockpits if they were not selling. Worst yet, they would not keep adding them if they were not outselling the planes WITH cockpits.

Thanks to the silent majority...... :)

@ RagTag: Yeah, and I´m afraid those customers who are satisfied with outside looks might be the silent majority. Only MS sales numbers might prove me wrong, but I guess we oldfashioned simmers are just a loud minority shouting against a deaf wall

@ steve: if they bring them out, at least I know who´s to blame  . BTW, might be a helluva job to get the trim right ...

 this is a MS model...theres no trim No body No wheels and only one wing for the pilot to sit on. and all for only $5.99 plus tax

any advance orders??

steve-0

just as a side note ..if MS really want to see how to do aircraft properly, check out the T7 from PMDG.and as i spend less and less time using flight with its half made aircraft and start spending my hard earned money of FSX addons like the T7 and NGX,do you think somebody at MS might think "hang on there are people willing to spend a lot of money on aircraft that are done properly so why don't we do some"

somehow i don't think so

With the release of yet another war bird without a cockpit it is obvious to me that MS is after a new and different market for Flight - they want the Xbox crowd that always race, fly or whatever from a chase or third person perspective and I doubt they really care what a few hundred unhappy people (me included) care about the direction of Flight. I'll buy the P-40 just to have some speed for awhile but please, MS - cockpits!! We really should all learn from a simple thing that Microsoft does and that is the default directory of "Microsoft Games" - that's all they consider any of it to be - it's the third party expertise that create what we cherish as our flight simulators and take the "game" out of the application. My humble opinion only. True simulators are very expensive yet for a few hundred dollars we are able to have as good or better graphics, flight models and cockpits that rival the very expensive true simulators. For a comparatively small amount of money we get a great ride with previous sims and maybe this one too in time. I'm willing to give Flight a chance to develop, the detailed scenery and weather are excellent, but I still have FSX, X-Plane , FS9 and other simulators to enjoy when I really want to fly! Well, that's what I think.

Hello Ralph

You do not like the direction that Flight! is taking, but will buy the P-40 anyway.

Do you not think that sends a message to MS that their direction is validated ?.

Why buy something that you are not happy with, unless you want even more aircraft releases like this.

I can't believe they are stupid enough to relaese another fighter with no cockpit. Most posts I've seen are telling Microsoft Flight that No Cockpit = No sale.

I'll never buy another plane from microsoft unless it has a cockpit.

Hello

Most posts here, but MS do not see the users here as their target market.

The target market plays their racing sims from the chase view and that is how they like to fly.

They also probably prefer to spawn in the air as it is quicker and requires less concentration.

As I have said before MS have hit a home run with this title, it is turning into a huge success.

We might not like the way it is going but thousands do, it is their dollars that MS want now.

It's ineffective to complain about aircraft not having cockpits if you buy them anyway.

Dollars trump forum-posts any day of the week, which MS understands all too well.

People buying cockpitless aircraft has only some effect on the development. This does not mean that they will continue producing them. Keep into consideration that it's not just the Flight Sim community that they are trying to impress. They are also trying to impress new customers. And I have to admit, they have been doing it well. The P40 is another one of those aircraft without a cockpit either because they are working on creating a better quality DELUXE Aircraft for Alaska. I'm pretty sure that they are busy working on Alaska to keep up with their tight schedule. Cockpitless aircraft I'm sure is not what MS planned to happen. They just couldn't keep up with their schedule, so they decided to release just exteriors only.

If I could try to persuade the devs, I would, but I can't. What I would tell them to do is spend 2 months per aircraft to make sure that it includes a cockpit and that it has great engine sounds. Unfortunately I can't do it. I will continue to try and see what I can do. If it works, I will tell you guys, cause this is kinda getting out of the ordinary.

Continue to be patient guys. Only fate will tell us whether or not MS Flight will continue to be a hit.

FSX has some perfectly serviceable aircraft with VC's. Granted some of the models have their problems, but at least they all have VC's. Why couldn't the Flight team tweak some of them and include them in Flight? Instead, we're fed a diet of WWII single engine cockpitless aircraft.

My hopes are that with the Alaska release, we get some complete aircraft that will operate in that expansive terrain, long distances, ski planes, floatplanes, twin engines, etc.....

As big an area as Alaska is, it would be terrible to be stuck with the genre we have now. Guess we will have to wait and see.

I enjoy certain aspects of Flight, but as a real world pilot (retired), I used FS9 and FSX to keep sharp on procedures, ILS, traffic patterns, ATC, navigation, etc...

The only reason I'm stuck with Flight at the moment is that my desktop died on me and I'm running Flight on my laptop. Can't do that with the other two.

I'm trying to stay positive about this whole issue, but am disappointed with the apparent direction Flight is going at the moment.

Thank you.

Rick

For what it's worth, the community manager, Delafina, stated that the P40, and I assume the other warbirds, were already planned before Flight was even released. What that means is open to interpretation.

Got it, love it, they did a great job modeling the aircraft. I really couldn't care less about all the negativity. I don't go with the mainstream flow anyway. It's a mere $7 for a basic aircraft, it's great.
