Blackbox Airbus

I hope BB can get all the issues resolved. There seems to be a trend of developers (not just FSX) releasing products well before they are ready and then asking customers to pay to essentially beta test the product. I am not a big fan of that practice.....

I agree but in all fairness to BBS they asked me this morning to drop a dll in my FSX route to fix something and offered me a full refund whether it worked or not.... i declined the refund.

For the sake of 2 mins of my time with no risk involved to my FSX i'd say that's fair enough to get the bugs ironed out!

Chris,

DId you have issues during Take Off? For some reason the bus wanted to keep going right while I was rolling down the runway (quite a bit), then for no reason the AutoBrake would kick on. It took me 3 times to get in the air and the third time I disengaged the AB. It seemed like a rocket ship in that I made V1 and Vr about 2000 ft down the runway (at a FLEX 63 TO). Then once I got in the air and changed to CL, my FD wanted me to climb at a rate of 10,000 FPM, almost 30 degrees. This bus clearly has some ways to go, but it does have some nice features. In Vegas when it gets really hot (like today) the AB's have to pull off to cool their brakes because they don't have the fans installed. These brakes got really hot and luckily BBS installed the cooling fans and I was able to turn those on in the cockpit to cool the brakes quickly.

Ive got rolls but im not a baker??

Does you're interest in cakes have anything to do with this? :P

Yeah, I've been putting a few of them on my signature recently, that one being because my wife came in with some very nice rolls earlier today, it makes a change from telling people all the things that are on my hard drive. As you may be aware, that all stems from the discussion Bill Bailey had about the Killers song, 'All These Things That I've Done', which is a bit of a 'meme' on the interweb these days:

Guys... one advise....don't waste your money..... I have been really patient and tried to see the positive side of the bird but there are way too many issues that I uninstalled it.... to give you an idea, it is worst that the Airsimmer A320 !

.... and the way they addressed details shows that could not release a reliable Airbus... (look at the octagonal windows instead of round ones.... and the glass effect is really bad .... you can see through the other side of the aircraft...

The FBW is very bad (Wilco's is much better) and looking into the MCDU leads to CTD.......

too much, too soon....

Well there is one thing for sure that can be said about these guys, they are on top of updates. BBS just announced that they are uploading patch #2 to their servers and should be available in your inbox shortly. Here's what they've fixed with this update:

  • Many issues with throttles and joystick axis inputs and a lack of Fly by wire protection, easily identified by fuel on board display incorrectly positioned and overlapping other readouts on EWD
(FIXED - FSUIPC was being installed but not being correctly registered with FSX)
  • Hugely overpowered reverse thrust (FIXED)
  • Loose FBW pitch attitude hold especially on A320 model
(FIXED - Fly by wire logic improved and some minor FDE tweeks)
  • VC Apu Bleed switch, indicator was displaying off, should say on
(FIXED - You will now be able to start the engines from cold & dark as you will see the bleed in the correct configuration )
  • Software Version display added to Installer & Mcdu to aid in issue detection (ADDITION)
  • Throttles jumping in and out of detents after keyboard control
(FIXED - Increased required value change before joystick regains priority from keyboard)
  • Corrupt Displays / Crash to Desktops / blank pfd,nd and ecam's
(FIXED - Memory Leak Resolved in v0.51)

KNOWN Outstanding Issues - these no longer need to be reported unless you can add some additional information..

  • Dual Throttle Inputs - Many people still having troubles to calibrate.
a possible work around seems to be, bypass fsuipc calibration for these throttles and map them to engine 1 throttle and engine 2 throttle directly in flightsim where possible ( i will know more as soon as i can lay my hands on a saitek)
  • Mouse Flickering is being reported a lot - not totally understanding this issue as i am unable to reproduce at the moment.

They recommend fully uninstalling your current version first.

Whenever I install the Blackbox Airbus it kills VNAV on my other planes. It has happened twice.

Here is how Blackbox managed the exterior model.... amazing :LMAO:

1- poor glass effect

2- no window thickness effect

3- you can see through the other side of the cabin too easily

they really should have seen what Airsimmer (A320) or PMDG (NGX) managed to do.....

and I don't remember having seen such a mirror shining effect on an airbus engine nacelle...

After these comments I did read, I have to say it again:

fuck-that-bitch-yao-pff.png

Critiquing the model is boring. Critique the virtual cockpit, the systems. This is a flight simulator. Not a passenger simulator, not a spotter simulator.

But this is 2012. We can expect some kind of progress on the eye-candy side. It is only natural that we expect something that looks significantly better than the wilco buses which were released ages ago.

Aerosoft's Airbus X has a very nice VC. And that is from 2010... We also have lots of Carenados in the sky (released in what almost seems to be a weekly pattern ;)). And they all have high quality VCs and exterior models.

I still hope that the BBS will get progressively better over the next weeks. But I doubt they'll do much about the model. But one can still hope.

Regards,

Patrick Krolzik

I will never buy the Bus, they arn't even finished modelling the VC, they are taking the AirSimmer route, and we all know how well that turned out. The price is WAY to high. I shall wait for the FSLabs bus.
