July 12, 201213 yr I ran the upgrade and just took a quick look at the new UI. But im in a hurry (late for work) so all I can do is take this quick shot of the new UI and post this message. I will say it boots up a lot faster! I haven't loaded a flight yet. Il have to wait till later tonight. Rob
July 12, 201213 yr I'm having a look at what's being downloaded onto my system: - Lots of dds texture files for the terrain landclass. Maybe some new visuals await? - New airport objects - Updated apt.dat - maybe some users have contributed some airport material via wed now? Nooooooooooo! It crashed when I loaded it. Even after renaming all preferences files in the output/preferences folder.
July 12, 201213 yr (Quickly copying my demo directory to somewhere safe based on the crashes above...) A healthy amount of information is posted up at the developers blog for those of you who are anxious to see what changed and how they're handling things. Sounds like it truly is a beta, and might be a little rough around the edges. I also find it interesting that not a peep about the reported scenery fixes were included in the release notes, but Anthony above did see some new textures and airport objects in the download process. The dev blog certainly did indicate that some scenery tweaks were going to be done but I find it odd that they didn't take credit for them in the release notes. I'm interested in hearing more about this update. Maybe it'll be the straw that breaks this old camel's back and gets me to pull the trigger.... -Greg
July 12, 201213 yr Yes my talks with Andras revealed a lot of tweaks to the drier terrain after our picking up of the too green look. I'll try and get a guide from him. Can't wait to try the new oilrig! Simmo W, Melbourne, Ozhttp://www.youtube.com/user/id5556
July 12, 201213 yr I also find it interesting that not a peep about the reported scenery fixes were included in the release notes, They've updated the release notes a fair bit now. But there's now mention of the scenery textures. OK, if you want to revert back to 10.05r1, then run the installer again, making sure that the "Beta" check box is unchecked. That should get you back to a good copy. Downloading 10.05r1 now.
July 12, 201213 yr They've updated the release notes a fair bit now. But there's now mention of the scenery textures. Ah - I see this. Thanks! Much like the product itself, the release notes are also a work in progress.... :P Cheers, -Greg
July 12, 201213 yr Question; I would like to test the beta but I am in no way interested in messing everything up (after all the 10.05rc works pretty well for me). Can I copy the entire XPX-directory to another location and just update that one? Richard 7950x3d | 32Gb 6000mHz RAM | 8Tb NVme | RTX 4090 | MSFS | P3D | XP12
