Beta 10.10 is out!

You people can flame all you want, but X-plane isn't up to par with FS9, not to mention FSX, update no update beta no beta, I can't believe people are buying this for almost eighty bucks.

Hi jymp,

please read carefully this post:

Yes, I understand, that's fine, and I will not post anything else in this particular forum, good bad or otherwise about X-Plane, but eighty bucks ?

Some people just-can't-help-themselves.

I paid $150 for FSX with Acceleration...6 years ago.

I have both, but I didn't pay that, to each his own

I don't have XP-10 but I think XP-10 does have a good foundation to be a good sim., how long will it take to get there is the question.

Peoples who got XP-10 are complaining about it not been what they wanted or what they were expected....who's fault?

Would you pay full price for a brand new car without seats, lights or A/C in it and ***** at the car's salesman seven months later because he's not fixing these problems fast enough, or because the seats you got seven months later don't fit in the car the way they should?

So who's to blame if you buy a product 1/2 finished and pushed out the door to early......

Just my two cents.

jymp,

I have removed 2 of your posts which are flame bait, at best. You may post elsewhere, outside the X-Plane forums, but no longer here. If you do so, action will be taken to moderate your status.

Kind regards,

Wonderful screenshots! Are there any performance improvements with HDR on with 10.10 beta 1?

Thanks,

Alexander Colka

Then you must have had it shipped around the world a few times...........first. We do know, that FSX doesn't cost near $150.00. But I'll admit, I haven't paid a penny for the last three versions of MSFS. Microsoft just kept sending me those discs. (Beta tester..)

No Larry

If you'll re-read my post, I did say FSX + Acceleration.

I went to my local Electronics Boutique store to get it.

FSX - $99.95 (1st week of release)

Acceleration - $49.95 (1st week of release)

What do you say we get back on topic?

X-Plane 10.10's new oil rig by Khamsin + Jason Chandler's Bell 430 = Amazing simulator !!! B)

I seriously hope Khamsin gets to do more of these art assets for further updates. They are superb additions to XP.

neither did he ...

I could not use HDR pre-10.10 but now can use it well and still get good FPS. Some have said their performance is worse, mine is FAR better and could turn up settings to get back to the same perf I had 5b4, but now with more cars, buildings HDR and lots of other things. Your mileage may vary, but no glitches with my joysticks/yoke/pedals, better load times, better performance graphically. 10.10 is a great start. Now to work out the bugs that are plaguing all the others and 10.10 will be a great stepping stone to get off to other performance gains and features that can be rounded out.

So what exactly is HDR. I now what the acronym is but I ran it and the only thing I saw different was more shimmering. What is so great about it?

Officially retired

Ohhhhhhh........

I updated and horrible things happened. No crash, but much artifacting of terrain, planes and textures. New start-up screen seems promising... The program overall felt faster in the time before the artifacting became too distracting and I quit. My plane was hanging in the air, rotating about its axis, with unknown textures flickering everywhere. First Time ever I had to quit Xplane.

Looks like a fix is in order. I am patient.

Edit!! Ok, it seems my previous attempt broke something and it wont work correctly at all now. Doh!!! I am suspecting from the way its happening that its doing something horrible with my memory.

HDR in X-plane includes more realistic shading and how the light from the "sun" interacts with the atmosphere and ground causing shadows and other effects. It also affects the cloud coloring as well as light sources. In a way, if you're familiar with FSX, its similar to bloom, but with EVERY light source and path taken in the sim. Without HDR, it's very simplistic calculations of light instead of the more accurate ray-tracing and reflections.
