September 5, 201213 yr For me, things like this: - "Magnetic, true and polar grid course reference..." say it all... Although I was not expecting to buy any heavy metal add-ons for X-Plane10 ( I am still waiting for PS-X ) I don't think I can resist this one! What a list of features!... ... PMDG... You're staying behind..... Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)
September 5, 201213 yr How about FPS? is it fluid? please if someone can use for the comparison the CRJ-200 as a base. Alexander Colka
September 6, 201213 yr How about FPS? is it fluid? please if someone can use for the comparison the CRJ-200 as a base. Frames seem pretty good. On par with the CRJ. Im just trying to get used to sitting so high off the ground. Rob
September 6, 201213 yr Rob, are you using it in one of the betas or the R5 stable release? I thought I'd read somewhere that it does work in beta 11, but with a few quirks. Still trying to sort it all out. I haven't left the ramp yet, but just sitting there with the APU running and frames are on par with the Heinz 787 for me. I won't go into specifics because I'm happy with anything over 20, but let's just say.... "I'm happy." September 6, 201213 yr At Xplane10 Blog it's stated that r5 should be used! September 6, 201213 yr Frames on par with the 787? That woul dbe awesome news, nevertheless hard to imagine as the 787 has no notable FPS hit on my system (i7) ... - Currently giving X-Plane 12.10 a spin on Shadow PC. 10 years with X-Plane now, since 10.20
September 6, 201213 yr My system isn't exactly top end, though. I've learned to love what I can get. 25 on the ground, 40ish at flight levels. HDR off, Roads, trees, and objects at "Tons", no traffic, reflections and airport details at Default, and world distance detail at Very good. On a related note, I've reverted to 10.05r1 to try to fly the 777 as it was intended, but I get a nighttime sky during the day. The terrain is all lit up like it's daylight, but the sky is black with stars. When I switch on HDR, it's fine, but I only do that for screenshots. Anyone else seen this problem and know of a fix? September 6, 201213 yr SSsoooo.... I hear this works with XPL9? Is there anybody who flies FSX and XP and can compare the 777 with current top FSX addons, like the NGX? Is this finally that add-on that will make me get to fly XPL on a regular basis? --Peter Fabian

You could try the following: Go to your "Resources" folder inside your XP main folder, open it and delete or simply rename these folders: "bitmaps" and "shaders". Next step: run the Installer/Updater again.
September 6, 201213 yr Omg omg, my credit card is getting so much exercise this week i bought the crj jrollon xp10, Prepar3D, Aerosoft Corfu and Heraklion, CRJ Wilco v2 and now I need this 777 baby!

If you're limiting yourself to PMDG quality add ons, you're limiting yourself to a very small share of the add on market. PMDG spend YEARS on their add ons. Those kinds of add ons cannot be made in a matter of months for X Plane. They CAN be done, but, like PMDG, they take several years to complete. There are some add ons coming out that can be directly compared to PMDG add ons, but they are few and far between.

September 6, 201213 yr Thanks gor your answer Goran. If you're limiting yourself to PMDG quality add ons, you're limiting yourself to a very small share of the add on market. I am well aware, but, simply put, I have no interest in buying another "lemon" of an add-on. The set of airplanes that is available in quality that I consider high enough for me to enjoy is big enough that I feel no need to not limit myself, and I do not have to endure things like SP 0.6 I can not really keep myself "current" in more than 2-3 airliners (currently the 737, the MD-82, the PT154), 1-2 regionals (currently JS41) and some GA planes and warbirds anyway, so there is little point for me to invest in every other add-on. I still have several other favourites that I cycle in/out from time to time. PMDG spend YEARS on their add ons. Those kinds of add ons cannot be made in a matter of months for X Plane. They CAN be done, but, like PMDG, they take several years to complete. I understand that, of course. I do a bit of my own things here and there to realize how consuming is the process, especially if it is on a hobby part rather than professional endeavour. There are some add ons coming out that can be directly compared to PMDG add ons, but they are few and far between. The same can be said about MSFS market, to an extent. I understand that J Rollons CRJ is quite good, and in all fairness, if it was for FSX, I would probably own it now, I quite like the Felis An-24 (havent flown the Yak yet) and I follow IXEG with great interest. I am just trying to figure out whether it is time to delve into XPL full speed, or not yet. --Peter Fabian

I would love to throw you a few links of what is in development, but unfortunately, part of the rules as a Commercial Member in Avsim is that I cannot make certain recommendations. The IXEG project is one of a few add ons being made that test the limits of realistic systems simulation and visual eye candy. Of course, it is your choice whether you delve into X Plane or not, but think of it this way...every new person that gets X Plane is more of a chance that developers make quality stuff for it. I have a programmer working with me who said the X Plane SDK is far, far easier to work with than the FS9/FSX SDK and he can add the same amount of detail to the systems. So the tools are there. More developers just need to exploit them.
