I'm guessing it used to when NWA was in service and had the Avro in service.

I seem to remember some UAL flights out of SFO in the 90s I think? (Maybe not UAL but a code share ailrine?)

Anyone have a mini review to share with us? I'm really interested in purchasing!

is it easier to fly then the pmdg ngx? based on systems, etc.. can you save panel states, etc or not.. do you always have to start from cold and dark? and if so.. how long does it take you to get ready to taxi.?

I can fly the pmdg ngx but I don't spend a lot of time on it.. it does not flow smoothly for me.. I still have to think things through - I'm just not 100% comfortable with it.. and I'm thinking this plane would be a good transition plane.. something that I could fly and get more time on and then move on up to the ngx. yes? or no?

Ciao!

The FMC allows you to load a flight plan from FSX, FSBuild, etc..... that it inself makes it easier. Yes you can save panel states, and startup anyway you want. I launch with engines running so in just a few miuntes I am pushing back and heading for the runway.

Graphics and performance (FPS) are top notch, you won't regret getting it, and ig by chance you do, Flight 1 has a 30 day return policy, so you can't lose.

yeah right.. I keep forgetting about he F1 return policy..nice

Ciao!

Pretty awesome product. Tried the quick tutorial earlier and had a lot of fun. Looking forward to some flights in and out of London city

Bought it. Seems strange to have 4 jet engines barely able to get me off the ground under a heavy load. But as someone else said, it's like having 5 APUs!"

Very nice experience so far. Can't wait for a few more liveries but I'm just nit picking!

I gotta try an resist the urge to buy this and start flying in Europe for the first time and have to buy a ton of scenery in the UK...

Perhaps when ORBX starts releasing it if I can wait that long...

Because 4 Engines were chosen (at the time) for less noise rather than more power.

I bought this last night. Some of you may remember seeing my thread about what commercial aircraft to buy. I never made my mind up until last night! It is definitely a high quality product. They do have some bugs to work out but no show stoppers (on my system anyway. I haven't had the CTDs that others have reported.) Thanks to Flight1 I can give QW a few weeks to see how they support the product and decide if it's worthy of keeping.

One thing I will say - I wish all developers would place a priority on sound the way A2A and PMDG do. The Avro is better then most but some more detail would be nice, like clicky buttons on the FMC etc. But these are just nitpicky things :)

I will also add that the VC and external model are AWESOME. The texture work and attention to detail is right up there with the absolute best available for FSX (A2A, Carenado HD, etc)

AirCal use to fly it years ago out of Orange County Airport in Southern California, but something tells me the 737 replaced it for these regional flights. I learn to fly out of KSNA which has a 19R and 19L and everytime I went to turn final on 19L the tower would always give me a warning that a AirCal was on final to 19R, that was a good incentive to make sure you turned onto final sooner rather than later. I'm thinking of getting this bad boy.....

well, a month has passed and I was wondering how you feel about the plane and it's support at this point? Can you tell me more (anything specific being reported) about those CTD's other's have been experiencing or any other bugs being reported often and how they're being responded to?

BTW - this is an inquiry regarding the FSX version of the plane.

Thanks!

I like the aircraft. Few have had issues with CTD's but I was one of them that did. There are actually two CTD issues:

1. There is an issue where it crashes after entering some airports in to the FMC. This one has been reproduces by the developer and a fix is on the way.

2. I, and a few others, have experienced CTD's when selecting the aircraft in FSX or during flight prep. QW has not been able to reproduce the CTD so I think it may be something specific to a few systems. I think it has something to do with a spike in memory usage when the aircraft is loaded so I made a few changes to my setup. I applied many of them at the same time so I can't say which one worked but the CTD's seem to be gone. I applied the MS hotfix to increase the desktop heap limitation (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947246). I changed my pagefile settings to let Windows manage it. I had it previously set to 1/2 my RAM. I also removed ENBMod. All from the crashes came from d3d9.dll so it seemed like a logical culprit. I have also installed newer video drivers and NVIDIA Inspector. I was using drivers that I installed 2 years ago with NHancer.

Now, I have no idea why this popped up after I installed the Avro but it did. I also installed more scenery at the same time and I am starting to think I have hit a wall in the amount of scenery I have installed (I'm at about 400 entries in my scenery.cfg). I'd welcome any comments on this issue because I don't know if I am correct but when watching Process Monitor and Resource Monitor during FSX startup, it looks like FSX brings all of my scenery in to memory before the GUI loads. Because of this, I also decided to disable ORBX NA since I rarely fly in the area. My logic was that I was eating up resources for something I wasn't using. I have no idea if I am correct with this assumption.

Overall, it is a great aircraft with a fantastic VC. QW provides great customer service and the only time they have not fixed something is when they can't reproduce the issue.
