September 2, 201213 yr It's sad when fans of a product ruin a product for you. Take the New York Yankees for example. Historically and consistently a phenomenal club, but I'll never root for them because their fans are d-bags. The sweeping generalizations in this thread are astounding! PMDG is a quality developer IMO. If someone else thinks Abacus or CLS, then who cares? There are other developers out there aside from PMDG. I can't tell if it's the same droll "haters gonna hate" syndrom or some folks are just trying to be different and go against the grain. I'm a non-Dbag Yankee fan. I always try to stay humble. No one can dispute that the NYY is a very successful sports franchise. There are no shortage of Yankee fans who will tell you "Only the best get hated on". To shift this line of thought to addon developers; PMDG is a very successful addon developement team. I STILL don't see Wilco "hate" posts... How about that "Carenado" hate posts? Is it beacuse a lot of these developers aren't "the best" so no haters? Of course not... Bottom line: All of this is subjective to the individual. There is no best for everyone. Like who you like but don't hate on others. "I am the Master of the Fist!" -Akuma

Bottom line: All of this is subjective to the individual. There is no best for everyone. Like who you like but don't hate on others. I agree 100%. My point was that liking one thing doesn't have to come at the expense of another thing. Some people tend to live in a binary world where if they love one thing, they have to hate the thing that competes. It's like "I love my NGX, therefore I must never acknowledge any value in any way from PMDG's competitors, or I will displease my NGX (which resides as an inanimate package of computer code on my harddrive, and couldn't possibly care less one way or the other)." If one prefers one thing over the other, hey great! Who am I or anyone else to tell a person they're not allowed to have a preference? It's just amusing to me and a little frustrating to see where folks must express their preference with an arrogance and implication that the above-mentioned package of code can walk on water before turning around and changing that water into wine. I'm a new convert to X-Plane. Believe me when I tell you that I've seen this sort of attitude in boldface 3D. In fact, my mere mention of X-Plane in this thread is likely to inspire some spittle-flinging diatribe on how much it's crap. Incidentally, nothing personal with the Yankees mention. I'll just never forget the times they played the Atlanta Braves in a couple World Series' back in the 90's and the traveling fans came down and made complete jack-asses of themselves in our city. The other example of this sort of thing I can think of are the rabid fans of a certain politician from Texas who keeps trying to run for president. "No matter how eloquent you are or how solidly and firm you've built your case, you will never win in an argument with an idiot, for he is too stupid to recognize his own defeat." ~Anonymous.
September 2, 201213 yr Heres another take on this, I like both CS and PMDG's because I am a Boeing fan..... and having said that I will never buy another plane from either of them, unless and until they include a 2D cockpit. They may think us 2D users are old and outdated but I got news for all developers, there is a lot of us out here and our money is just as good as the VC lovers :-) Jay

Anyway I think the CS767 does come with a 2d cockpit: http://www.captainsim.com/products/b767/base/2d.html
September 2, 201213 yr Does CS 767 support hardware? Yes, at least with LINDA. The VRI devices work and you can map certain features to any hardware of yours. Not as deep as a full SDK to play with, but surely useful.
September 2, 201213 yr Yes, at least with LINDA. The VRI devices work and you can map certain features to any hardware of yours. Not as deep as a full SDK to play with, but surely useful. Ahh good stuff, I found Linda doesn't work with SPAD but that doesn't stop me from chopping up the scripts and mapping them via Spad to FSUIPC So is there really another service pack planned for the 767? Or is that just a rumour?
September 2, 201213 yr felt the same way for years, and only in the past year have come to where I only fly with 3d panels. Anyway I think the CS767 does come with a 2d cockpit: I have their 757 so I really dont need the 767, I was referring to the fact that both devs have stated they will no longer model 2D cockpits in the future. September 2, 201213 yr Since I setup Ezdok views, I don't even use 2D popups anymore. VCs just feel so much more real, 2D to me feels like I'm not flying kind of like when playing with a VOR simulator. 3D is immersion, but I understand why some like 2D on older systems and it's easier to get started with
September 2, 201213 yr Thanks for the thread, sounds like CS 767 is a very good product. I'll remember it when I'll decide to fly 767. Cheers,Dirk.
September 2, 201213 yr Commercial Member This is a Flight Simulator forum, not Passenger Simulation Forum. Right? I was going to say that personally, I prefer to drive. Each to his own I suppose! :Big Grin: Dave Hodges System Specs: I9-13900KF, NVIDIA 4070TI, Quest 3, Multiple Displays, Lots of TERRIFIC friends, 3 cats, and a wonderfully stubborn wife.
September 2, 201213 yr Commercial Member Thanks for the thread, sounds like CS 767 is a very good product. I'll remember it when I'll decide to fly 767. Cheers,Dirk. Seriously, take a careful look at the Level-D before settling in on the CS. I own both, and I all but stopped flying the CS 767 (said "all but" as I recently made one flight in the CS767 to remind myself of why I prefer the Level-D. In the end I suppose it depends on whether you want a little bit better looking flight deck or if you want the systems and (what I believe) is a more accurate flight model - I say that because to me the CS CS767 generally seems like flying the default 737. Also, the CS767 has no speed tape, lacks the option of chaning the fuel from meteric to lbs, and despite CS customers asking/begging for a change to both (for years) CS seems to have turned a deaf ear and never provided either. Someone else did a lbs conversion (Google is your friend here). Just my personal opinion, I simply don't believe that CS cares at all about what CS customers and I stopped doing business with them after CS recently promoting it's 777 as a Beta product. It wasn't, as by any definition other that that of CS, a Beta has fully functional systems. If one Google's Software Beta", you'll come up with some professional websites that give the correct definition of what a software Beta is, and using any of those leaves me feeling deceived by CS. Like I said, just my personal opinion (which CS deleted from their website). Rob (I mean Dave!) :Shame On You: :Silly: :LMAO: Dave Hodges System Specs: I9-13900KF, NVIDIA 4070TI, Quest 3, Multiple Displays, Lots of TERRIFIC friends, 3 cats, and a wonderfully stubborn wife.

September 2, 201213 yr So is there really another service pack planned for the 767? Or is that just a rumour? I'm not aware about any upcoming SP for the 767. 1.5 works fine so far. On the 2D cockpit wishes, I understand those. But the numbers of such releases gets lower and lower. Regardless of that, I think it's vital that a dev offers a full 2D set if a 2D cockpit is listed as the product's feature. Leaving certain panels out doesn't make sense at all. I'm a VC flyer though, only using the popups for e.g. the FMC.
September 2, 201213 yr What makes me most frustrated about Captain Sim is that I was dumb enough to buy most of there products. DOH! Matt Wilson
September 2, 201213 yr I guess I'll be different and say the main reason I won't fly the cs 767 is because fs2crew doesn't support it. I just can't give up my virtual FO. He does his job perfectly every time, and he also gets me coffee for those morning flights. AJ Pongress
