AEROSOFT Playing games

Featured Replies

Aerosoft just loves to play games.

In our case: simming. Though it is not really a "game" but a simulation of flight. Not only do they develop a lot of fine scenery; but also nice a/c. And we are currently waiting on the fine master-piece of Airbus 320 (Extended Version). Uhhhh, have you seen the most recent graphichs? Mama mia, mmm , mmmm...they are fine, fine! The level of detail will be the best flight simming has seen.

I've stopped buying their aircraft. The HueyX controller issue and fix were unsatisfactory handled.. Sure you paid around $40+ for it but the fix is giving you basic FSX 206 FDE's as a stopgap solution. Stopgap turned out to be the final solution. That really bugged me.

I'm tired of software developers that can't meet criteria they set upon themselves. Always, we get the talk about "you just don't know how complicated software is to develop." Sure don't, I'm an orthopaedic surgeon in real life. If I walked in to a patient's room in the morning and said "you know that knee replacement we planned for today, well we're going to do it next week instead...tentatively.", I'd have very few if any patients. Replacing a knee isn't exactly something most software designers know how to do either.

I understand if software developers take the approach of not releasing information or setting firm release dates. This is being realistic about what you can and can not reliably plan on. However, I do not understand not meeting these deadlines if they set them (for themselves no less). Unfortunately, internet environments tend to depersonalize things and we lose some accountability.

Mmmm, I have to say in my experience Aerosoft leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to sorting out problems. I think if the extended bus arrives with few bugs then it will be a success, but alas, if it is a case of needing to be updated, then don't expect the degree of support that we associate with PMDG. I mean those guys are just awesome when it comes to bringing an aircraft to the market and then following things up very quickly with patches and updates. I admire Aerosoft for the work they did on the original Airbus X, it truly is a masterpiece of texture design. The VC is superb and when flying at night, the VC is just a pure joy. The external textures too are stunning. So we will have to wait and see what appears. I hope for their sakes it is not flawed. I think too many guys have been down on it, simply because the FMC lacked STARS and SIDS and it was lacking in some other areas of functionality. OK, it may not be an NGX from a functionality point of view, but then it was never meant to be that. It was always marketed as a version that sits neatly between the functionality of a default aircraft and the likes of a PMDG bird. I have to admit at not getting to grips with the Airbus as it is a different flying philosophy than Boeing and that takes some getting used to. However, it would be nice to have another tube in my hangar and what better than an Airbus

They're screwed either way. PMDG gets hammered prior to every release because they refuse to speculate on a release date. Aerosoft decided to give a date with the caveat that some bug that was discovered could cause that date to move. If you've been in this hobby for any length of time (I've been in since 1988), you take release dates with a grain of salt. If they hit their date, great, if not, oh well. It's not life and death, just a computer simulator.

An "apples and oranges" comparison if ever there was one. I'm sorry but all Aerosoft announced was the date they were aiming for, and they always stated that it might change a little, which it did. Sure I'd like to have it yesterday, as is the case with a bunch of announced but yet unreleased products (PMDG 777, 747v2, FSLabs A320, ORBC NorCal and so on), but I really don't see why anyone has grounds to give the developers a hard time if their time table slips, especially when it was made clear time an time again that this might happen. It's all about managing expectations I suppose.

I'm sure a talented programmer would make a fair bit more money developing for iOS or Android, rather then applying their skills in this little niche we occupy. At the end of the day the people who make our add ons are enthusiasts just like us, and I'm just grateful they are doing what they are doing.

There never was a deadline or a firm release date.

Cheers,

Alex

After I bought Airbus X, I'm a little sceptical on buying planes from them again. Have not got It to work, always end up with a CTD 20-40 minutes in flight. Have tried the workarounds but nothing seem to fix this issue for me. Now It only collect dust in the hangar :(

I never had ctds with this ac that I remember of.Early versions of this ac had issues but version 1.22 fixed most of them and the FBW by J. Che did the rest. (for me that is).

V1.22 is the version I have.

Ha, ha...that's like saying it's somewhere between California and Main. It seems Aerosoft's specialty is the scenery. They haven't done a well with their aircraft.

Even so, I look forward to the Extended version. I certainly hope that they do it justice.

We have three potentially high quality Airbuses in the works now, AirbusX Extendee, Black Box Advanced and FlightSim Labs A320 Project. We'll have to see which will be the best. I'm pretty sure FlightSim Labs will be up there pretty high in quality.

Hopefully the new one will work for users who dont use the throttle axis. Cause alot of people still dont have a harware throttle.

To be fair, I would much rather go through the small frustration of delayed release dates than paying money for a product that just wasn't ready for release and then having to wait for service packs to get the product working as intended.

Let's hope this one is worth the wait!

LOL or just do a LDS and never say anything, and delete any post asking for a release date.. Seriously - provide a release date and something could go wrong, or say it will be ready when its ready. Nothing worse than a half baked product.

I would have a look at the coolsky DC-9 mate.

That would be the 3rd time in 15 days they moved forward the release date. :LMAO:
