September 14, 201213 yr Hi everyone, http://blogs.wsj.com/middleseat/2012/07/24/silver-bird-no-more-american-planes-likely-to-get-new-paint-scheme/
September 14, 201213 yr :( I like American's livery, I think its really neat. At least it looks like they're giving up the merger with US Air (whew). ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dana Palmer KJAC
September 14, 201213 yr Yeah this will be depressing. Something I grew up on you just know who it is when you see an AA plane. Randy Swofford
September 14, 201213 yr It really will be a shame if they change it completely. The current livery is one of the most iconic (non) paint schemes around. I can understand their problems though with new composite planes..
September 14, 201213 yr They're going to have to paint some of their aircraft because of the large Airbus order. As far as the merger with US Airways, that decision will be made by the creditors.
September 14, 201213 yr Is this news? So much has been known ever since the 787 order... their current livery simply can not be without modification on composite planes (and Airbus planes with their different metal finish process) --Peter Fabian
September 14, 201213 yr Nooooo!!! I liked getting headaches at the airport! Don't change, American! i7-6700K @ 4.5 GHz, 16 GB DDR4-2400 MHz, GTX 1070 8GB
September 14, 201213 yr well composites can be made chrome so American had to do something Mitch Brown Private Pilot | Aerospace Engineering Major
September 16, 201213 yr I'm told the problem with metallic paint is that it is heavier than non metallic. I am kind of nervous about what they come up with because there are a few new liveries in the industry that I feel are quite bad. Of course I'd like to see us go back to that 1957 paint job like we used to have on one of the 757s. As far as US Airways goes I think the likelihood of that is increasing. US Airways is going to try to buy us in bankruptcy. They've been very clear about that. Our management has finally given in to the fact nobody in the industry supports the stand alone carrier business plan. Plus all the other airlines our management was hinting they were talking with about mergers have come out very publicly saying there have never been talks about mergers and they don't plan on entertaining any. Our guys have accepted that US Airways is the only real candidate left and are now trying to beat them to the punch so AMR management will retain control of the airline. Tom Landry
September 16, 201213 yr I hope American can buy US Airways, be great not to see them around anymore, they bought Piedmont and destroyed one of the best airlines ever. "Warm southern hospitality will be replaced with cool northern efficiency", anyone remember that quote ?,
September 16, 201213 yr I liked getting headaches at the airport! Don't change, American! I do also like the livery of American. Very different and gives a 'raw' feeling to the aircraft.
September 16, 201213 yr Well, I like change. Hope they come up with something good. With kind regards, Bogdan Misko.
