FSL A320

Thanks for all the info Ronan...exciting times ahead for sure :)

As much as I love the NGX and marvel at how well it is made all around, one thing that is missing for me in the failure engine (at present, who knows in the future) is the lack of failures in the Flight Controls system, especially with the trailing and leading edge flaps. There is no Asymmetry skew, stuck, etc scenarios on the NGX, which may be due to limitations in FSX. I know you are under an NDA and I am not sure if you can answer this, but do you think these kind of system failures, etc will be modeled in the Bus?

Cheers,

Dinshaw Parakh.

P.S. Completely Off-topic, but I see two characters above the O and A in your name. Does it make a difference in pronunciation, and if so, how do you pronounce your name in a good Irish way ? :)

Sorry, unfortunately that'd be covered by the NDA, I'm sure all the information regarding the A320X will be made available to you guys at some point before release allowing yee to make up yeer minds.

With regards my name, Ronan pronounced Ronan as in "An apple", Rónán pronounced Ronan as in "Awwww, cute puppies/kittens/*insert appropriately adorable item here*".

Ronan= Row nan.

Rónán = Row nawhn.

Regards,

Ró.

Hahahahahah

Thanks for the crash course in Irish names. Look forward to your tutorials and videos.

Best wishes,

Dinshaw.

I don't think it will be out in november. Sure we have one picture now with the promise of more to come. But until I see some videos emerging I don't think they're ready to release in months time.

Unfortunately, I see this statement to be completely logical. So far we've seen nothing.

I was hoping to have a good A320 to fly at christmas this year (worst case scenario) but it seems that I won't.

We'll be very lucky if we have it within 1Q 2013.

I don't know about you but I'd much rather have a product which is truly ready to be released than one which is release at a set date just for the purpose of hitting a 'deadline'.

I'm sure our patience will pay off :)

All I want to know is can you use hardware that goes through fsuipc? I have PFC hardware and the aerosoft one can not be used as it exclusively through simconnect. I asked in the FSL forum a while ago and they did not know yet. Surely by now they must know this?

Eric,

Andrew brought this topic to my attention - I am so busy these days I can't keep track of the forums anymore, but it was an interesting topic to which I wanted to drop my 2 eurocents (some say it will be drachmas very soon :S)

As far as I understand PFC / FSUIPC interconnectivity, PFC hardware feeds FSUIPC which then feeds FS axes - this means anything that FSUIPC feeds the FS axes will be read by our software (I can't comment on Aerosoft's obviously). We have several methods that we read FSUIPC output, so I am pretty confident your hardware will have no issues with our A320-X aircraft :).

If you can share more on how you've set up your particular hardware through FSUIPC (calibration method, etc) I'd be more inclined to give a technical answer.

Hope that helps!

Lefteris, it helps immensely. PFC has its own .dll that was written by Pete Dowson who is if course the chap that wrote fsuipc. In fact your team can download the pfc.dll from the same site one gets fsuipc from. The PFC.dll is freeware. You can have your hardware controlled through both this and fsuipc. I have stuff such as the throttles, reversers, speed brake through fsuipc and the rest including the yoke through the PFC.dll. That .dll I am pretty sure works hand in hand with fsuipc so I don't foresee an issue with your software. Most if the axises are calibrated through fsuipc along with some buttons.

I do want to thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to come here and address my concern. With the info you provided I plan on purchasing your product and look forward to flying her. If for some reason there is an issue with the interface between the software and hardware I will pop on over to your forum for help. Thank you

So would I.

That does not mean however that I cannot be a little unhappy if I don't have it for christmas.

Based on this, I will be grabbing this the day of the release. Great job guys.

I think it's safe to say that you can rest assured that the FSL A320 will be better than the NGX, setting a new bar for the T7 to beat :P , only yesterday (or was it the day before? ) Andrew was pointing out an awesome feature (Oh I tease.... :P ) that even I, after having spent thousands of hours of my life on that machine, was only very faintly aware of. That thing is so deeply modeled that there are many parts in it that I couldn't even answer questions on, one case even going so far as to have to call up the maintainence base at work and get them to explain something to me before I could pass it on to Andrew and the team. Or times where I've had to ask the team to explain to me how something worked before I could test it. I don't think there'll be anyone out there disappointed with the FSL A320.

Neither of course do I think many would be disappointed with the AS one either, though the AXE is aimed at a different, more casual market, it's still looking pretty nifty based on the preview post over on the AS forums. It looks stunning from the screen shots and seemed to have fixed certain gripes in the community such as the lack of FPV, always nice to see a company listening to its customers.

Ró.

Ha, I know what you mean.

When I can hop all over Europe in a choice of a fabulous 737 sim or a fabulous A320 sim I shall be a very happy chappy indeed.

Until then - having only just got a new machine, FSX AND the NGX (it's like Christmas already!) - I shall concentrate on learning to fly the NGX properly and test fly some of the routes I have earmarked for my A320 fleet :)

My guess (based on nothing, lol) is the second quarter of 2013, not earlier, and that is if they are working very hard on it now. What if Lefteris and other key people are just too busy with their main jobs in the current economic environment? Just too much work all together. Look at PMDG how long it took them to roll out NGX. And then we see end of 2013 easily.

Our work flow hasn't changed - we're still working on the A320-X around the clock, and have been for nearly three years.

We've invested a huge amount of time, effort and resources to get it right

:O I know you wont say too much Andrew but please please tell us that the post above yours is incorrect with the release time?!

 Keep up the positive mood. On both, the drachmas and the Airbus topic.

A product of this complexity being released on the estimated date given a year ago, that's something that just doesn't happen. I think only Windows can do this, and they do it because they drop all the features they can't complete in time, to meet their launch date. Games do it also sometimes, but then there's always the Day 1 patch to correct the bugs that makes it unplayable at launch, and the DLCs the following months which is content that should have been in the release DVD but they didn't bother to finish it in time since they can make more money out of it.
