Time and time again, the staff here recommend Google Chrome to our members. I was a split second away from switching to Safari for better syncing with my iOS devices, and relied on an old friend first--Google. I found this interesting test between different browsers, and it appears our recommendations weren't in vain.

A note on IE10:

Some users have noticed
IE10 is not yet compatible with CKEDITOR.js, which is what quick reply and the normal reply box uses for simple features like the use of the return/enter key. The work around for now is to hit F12 while in IE10, and change Document Mode to IE9 Standards. This is not happening at just AVSIM, but at other forums as well. Here's the official "pending" trouble ticket for this at CKEditor's website:

More and more I find the need to run multiple browsers as website compatibility and feature support are all over the map. Firefox has, for years, been my main browser with whatever the current version of IE was running a distant second. That's slowly changed since FF went to their rapid release cycle and I've added Chrome into the mix. Chrome is slowly winning me over as my FF use continues to drop.

Hi net fans.

I use Firefox and Thunderbird, because I use XP and Linux Ubuntu.

With the 2 Firefox, I can exchange their BOOKMARKS files,

FILTERS, PASSWORDS, PREFS, HISTORY files and more.

With the 2 Thunderbird, I "told" my LINUX Tbird to save its messages

in the same DIRectory as my XP Tbird:

D:\EMAIL in XP and

/media/D/EMAIL in Linux !!

Sooooo I am always in sync between XP <=> Linux !!

Blue skies.

I use Firefox so I can have my hundreds of shortcuts, and their folders on my Galaxy Note 2.

I use a ton to test the library and forums with:

Firefox,

Chrome,

Opera,

Avant,

SeaMonkey,

IE.

and some other more obscure ones......

Apart from testing I don't really use IE anymore.

I've been pleasantly surprised by Opera - but still mostly use Firefox and Chrome; I highly recommend either of these three.

Here's a list and decent comparison for all the popular browsers:

Mainly Firefox here. IE only for one or two trusted sites that don't work in Firefox.

So far the tallies are interesting. As much as MS tries to innovate, I think they were a day late and a dollar short in making a good browser. I admit I'd rather just have then focus on making a good OS. lol

I use Google Chrome.....Why???

Because they understand the meaning of K.I.S.S.

I agree. To those who use Firefox: the reason I converted to Chrome was the crazy memory leaks I experienced. Is this still a common issue?

Sincerely,

Chase, your support link in your signature doesn't work. See the one in mine.

I had used FF for years, then gave up as I had severe memory leaks.  I was with Chrome for a long time, but it wasn't compatible with everything.  I've gone back to FF and it seems like memory leaks have been cured.  I still Chrome use for web based email (gmail at work).  Also, I made a simple Key Performance Indicator html page for our web sites, app and database servers (cpu, memory, network usage etc..).  It loads the fastest out of all the browsers, even though the icons and graphs etc.. are SMB based as opposed to http.

Opera, yea, there are problems here and there with some of builds, but overall, developers made huge effort during past years, and was first to introduce many innovations, now standard to all browsers. So even with few problems now and then, they have my support.

I use Safari in my iPhone and I'm sure others do as well (forgot to add a vote for it). What I find the most convenient is the mobile feature of the forums. Makes browsing so much easier on the iPhone. Don't count Safari out as there are many iPhone users out there but for PC browsing it's mostly Chrome.
