March 11, 201313 yr Commercial Member How do you have enough easy to remember buttons for all the different views is what I'd like to know? Or do you have to cycle through all of them to get to the view you want? It's not that hard to memorize them. From the left chair, it's 'a' three times for the overhead, and then I can hit it three times more to cycle back to the left side (or shift-a just as many times to step back). The pedestal is shift-a twice from the left seat (or I just pan). The only thing I don't really pan to is the overhead and the FMCs (view change for the former, and the 2D pop up for the latter). March 11, 201313 yr You can set shortcuts for each view defined in EZCA, e.g you can set "1" key to be the main view, "2" to be HUD view, "3" to be CDU, "4" overhead, "5" radios etc. --Peter Fabian
March 11, 201313 yr I'm just simply joining the group of VC-converted simmers and do really not worry about the lack of 2D panels in the upcoming 777 anymore. Are you 100% sure there will be no popup 2D panels like they have with the NGX ? Personally I really like having the FMS on my second monitor. Mark CYYZ
March 11, 201313 yr Commercial Member Are you 100% sure there will be no popup 2D panels like they have with the NGX ? Note that he said "lack of 2D panels" and not "lack of 2D anything/pop-ups." I don't think they'd get rid of some of the more useful pop-ups like the ones you mentioned. Kyle Rodgers
March 11, 201313 yr Author Are you 100% sure there will be no popup 2D panels like they have with the NGX ? Having read through (not completely, though!) this forum I can not say I'm sure of course. FMS would be nice as a pop-up as you say, and we'll probably get the DU's as well, yet I recall a post by Robert stating that the 777 will come with 'only' a VC, without a set of 2D panels as such. It made me think for a while: what if at some point in the future, Rob would say that the next plane would come with only its own sim platform, without any support for FSX, as such. A complete sim platform made by PMDG to PMDG standards. It would also take decades to release I'm sure! (no offense guys, love your work and attitude!) Cheers, Balint Nagy
March 11, 201313 yr Commercial Member 777 will come with pop up FMC, EICAS, PFD. That is standard for anyone using multi monitors. I fly VC with trackIR but have quite a few popups on extra screens. Rob Prest
March 12, 201313 yr Its very simple to remember my key's F1 = PIC view F2 = MCP F3 = Overhead F4 = Pedestal F5 = FMC That's all my views for all my planes!!! March 12, 201313 yr Guys... How exactly does EZDOK work?. I mean like when looking around the VC. Yusuf Keyre
March 12, 201313 yr You have the preset views, which are defined by yourself, and in every view pressing the middle mouse (at least in my case), and holding it down, you get a free-look around by moving the mouse, even zoomable with the mouse wheel. Just look around at Youtube, look for Setting up Ezdok ! Zsolt Bondar
March 12, 201313 yr Thanks for the clarification on the pop up panels. I have EZDok and TrackIR as well so I could make do without them but having the FMC on the second monitor is very handy. Mark CYYZ
March 12, 201313 yr Hi Balint, Glad your enjoying the new experience of the VC. If you want to be really blown away with the VC experience buy yourself a TrackIR add-on. If you haven't seen one, there is a IR camera clipped to your screen and you need a cheap headset (mine was £12 ) to clip the TrackClip Pro to, and then as you move your head your view in the cockpit will move as well, even zoom's in and out as you move forward and back............Now in my opinion that's about as realistic as your going to get! Since I got mine I have never used any 2D panels, except for a couple of really nice freeware aircraft that don't have a fully functioning VC, but I put up with that as the model is so good..............The RCS Mitchell B25 for instance! Anyway, glad your enjoying your VC's Happy Flying. Happy Flying, Dave Phillips.
March 12, 201313 yr Flyengravity or FDS + surround screen 180 degree warp?My thoughts exactly. However to be fair, it is the most real setup for those that cannot have a full setup at their disposal. Eric Tomlin Flight Line Simulations www.FlightLineSimulations.com
March 13, 201313 yr Yet when they showed it to some RL 737 pilots they all said it wasn't battered/grubby enough! Iain Smith It probably depends on who you're asking and what airline those guys are flying for. My experience when being admitted into a real world NG cockpit was always different, but that can certainly not stand against the statement of a majority of NG pilots. I'm sure PMDG did their research job here, so be it. Still, I'd have preferred an option to choose between a normally used cockpit and a cockpit that reminds me of a public toilet. Dave P. Woycek
March 13, 201313 yr Personally, I've never used the 2D panels; I'm more than happy using the VC views, cycling through them with the "A" and "-A" keys, and each view is fully adjustable, and I can drag them across to my second display. Kevin O'Connell Kevin O'Connell
March 13, 201313 yr Oops! Sorry chaps. What I drag across to my second monitor is the CDU, which of course would be 2D, and the ATC window. Kevin O'Connell Kevin O'Connell
