April 4, 201313 yr Looks like X-Plane 10.21 beta is just around the corner. Of note, new WED beta and DSF recuts. All good news.

April 8, 201313 yr Commercial Member Believe me this bridge has been crossed a bilion times, I don't understand that either, they have this amazing lego block technology for people to quickly build airport layouts but don't quite build a generic worldwide db. Many people think that a generic airport layout is better than a desert airport.. Well... L Currently selling most of my personal hardware! April 8, 201313 yr Why not do some worldwide default scenery airports, like FSX? Saving that for XPXI.
April 8, 201313 yr There's nothing worse than flying to an X-Plane airport and seeing what looks like an abandoned brownfield instead of a remotely vibrant airport. From what we've read, the work being done on WED (*after 10.21 and before 10.30) will be more steps towards opening the door to the lego-block crowdsourced airport submission process, which will help alleviate that issue.... or so we hope! (Hopefully they expand the object/facade library as well to provide more variations and variety for us builders to work with) Instead of only allowing airport designers to submit "layouts" of airports (just the runways, taxiways, and select items like taxi signs and such), the new process will allow designers to submit airports which include native X-Plane library objects and facades.... buildings! Only when the tools are in place and the process established will we truly see where it takes us. There are tens of thousands of airports across the globe which could use attention, but a comparatively tiny number of WED users to breathe some life into them. I've done 3 dozen or so airports in my local area and submitted the layouts to Robin, and they're in the most recent data update (and 10.20). My files are all equipped with native X-Plane buildings too, so as soon as the process is available to us, I'll resubmit the airports with their buildings, hopefully resulting in some of the first "default airports with buildings". We'll see... Between this and the upcoming potential for DSF recuts, maybe I'll actually be able to use X-Plane for some actual flying...
April 8, 201313 yr I have XP9 and am considering XPX. However, the dearth of scenery and jet add-ons is a deal breaker at present. As well, I am waiting to see if the bogus copyright lawsuit brings down the XP company before I commit to it. And that will likely take a year or two to see.
April 8, 201313 yr This Sim is not perfect,We all know and understand that. But it is being constantly developed and refined,How about instead of focusing on the things we don't have,Why not use and enjoy the things we Do have. I can go and download dozens of freeware airports that are really well done that give me that "being there" feel and fly for months without using the same one twice, also as we've seen from truscenery the payware products are picking up steam as well. 100%75%50%d8a34be0e82d98b5a45ff4336cd0dddc Patrick

Totally agree, I much prefer "plausible" airports that have the same types of buildings placed in the correct places that a great deal of folks are producing compared to a generic airport with buildings for the sake of populating an airport. I would really like to see more land marks defining key area's in major cities and area's, famous buildings, bridges that identify those area's Scot

Exactly, that what I been all along making my own lego airports and building objects for Minneapolis and St, Paul as X-plane deserves attention too.
April 9, 201313 yr Just a word of financial encouragement to XP developers. And I know this is stating the obvious. Once the visuals are sorted out to be able to do scenery over a wide area (like FSX Orbx), then I would think there are tens of thousands of current FSX users who would be willing to pay big dollars to jump on board the XP platform. I am anxiously awaiting XP 11 or even XP 12 to make the jump from FSX.
April 9, 201313 yr I am anxiously awaiting XP 11 or even XP 12 to make the jump from FSX.I'm in the same boat. I have read a lot about some of these shortcomings for XPlane, and it is probably what keeps me from taking the plunge. Small fixes in V10 are not going to convince me just yet. Looking forward to seeing them prosper and move on to V11. Do not judge people until you've walked a mile in their shoes. Then at least you are a mile ahead of them when you ###### them off...
