July 16, 201312 yr Orbx can manage expectations as much as they want, but people still hear what they want to hear! True. But more importantly: people just don't READ! I've seen numerous posts here and also (specially) on the Orbx forum where people asked things that were already answered in that same topic, sometimes in the posts right above theirs... A lot of people quickly scan a topic or even skip that and then simply ask what they wanted to ask when they got to that topic. It's AMAZING to see how often people post about for instance 'included POI's' and other things that simply won't be there in FTXG. I am VERY excited about FTXG but I KNOW what it is and isn't. I mainly fly in Norway and so I have excellent freeware installed for that region and I am excited about FTXG because I know how it will augment that freeware. I won't be uninstalling the freeware expecting FTXG to do the job! (FTX Norway South will do that.) But until then I need the freeware mesh, land class and airports in order to make Norway flyable. And this goes for the entire world. Orbx will add some landclass for neglected parts of the world, but to really make FTXG shine, you indeed need at least UTX (or something like OpenVFR) and (depending on the UTX region) a landclass addon. It's the combination of the Norway freeware and FTXG I am excited about. If I would only be able to get FTXG to enhance FSX I would be happy with it but not excited. (BTW If Orbx hadn't announced OpenLC I would also already have installed UTX Europe but I've just done a complete reinstall of my PC and FSX and I like to keep things clean and so before I install UTX I would like to see what OpenLC does to Norway... but since that may take quite some time I probably end up installing UTX Europe anyway.)
July 16, 201312 yr me 2, texture addons are more fun than the same old Boeing/Airbus addons :good: Enjoy flying your textures.. lol All jokes aside, textures is a lot, yes..
July 16, 201312 yr I am more excited about this than the triple seven to be honest. Sounds like your flying the heavies a lot so I dont know if Global will help you much considering your in Flight levels and not feet. ZORAN
July 16, 201312 yr I fly heavies a lot also and this sure will help IMO. I avoid areas of the world with no scenery because I like to see stuff when I land. Default FSX looks horrible and this will open up the world. Sure it won't be 100% real, but after a nice 2 or 3 hour flight I will have something to look at also when arriving. July 16, 201312 yr I have UTX Europe and USA so do I need to get SceneryTech landclass too? Büke Yolaçan

So I might as well install UTX today already. ^_^ I only use it for the coastlines and main roads though: when I turn on everything else that UTX offers, performance goes down too much.

July 16, 201312 yr Get XPX instead at least got platform that improves with time. This is gonna be big letdown for some, and make sone happy as they are sick at looking at fsx default textures since 2006.
July 16, 201312 yr This is gonna be big letdown for some, and make sone happy as they are sick at looking at fsx default textures since 2006. Some of us won't notice much of a difference at all because we are already experimenting with all the textures we already have at hand. Mike Mann

Am just happy is not default FSX i know is texture just like REXE + PLUS when they added Overdrive to it , it was clearly new textures being added . I know what global is am just happy is not default it makes you want to fly all over the world. For example i have never fly around Russia , but after seeing what orbx did over there am thinking on flying there when Global comes out . Am just happy with the change that is all . Am sure other simmers are to . Yes... But if you REALLY want to see it shine. Get UTX Canada, USA and whatever other area you are going to fly in. I only say this with respect and wanting to help people maximize their enjoyment of this product. I remember flying my area where I live in FSX for the first time. Stuff was WRONG in FSX. Missing whole towns I drive through in real life and missing major rivers and highways I was trying to desperately find. Then I bought GEX (Ground Environment Extreme). Excitedly went hunting for these areas on the map and to my surprise.... Nope nothing but the colors of the ground had changed. My fault for sure. Then I added UTX. Whoh. There they are!!!! Cochrane, Canmore, The bow River and all the little ones that feed into it. The coastlines were round and no longer shaped like straight lines. Yes!!!! That is what this is. ORBX's version of GEX. It will need land class under it (UTX) so that the beautiful textures and autogen know where they belong and so that all the missing roads and rivers and train tracks and powerlines will all pop into existence where there were none. Then there is .... mesh. LOL The USA was pretty high res already but Canada and much of the world was really low. Mountains look like humps with no definition. Not sure what the best Mesh products are to be honest. Of course ORBX saved the day with "All-in-one" regions like the PNW! And Northern Rockies. New Mesh, New Autogen, added models, New textures, new Vector data (roads and rivers) and new landclass tiles all in one awesome package. Regions will still rule the day over all else. But this FTXGlobal will fill in the blanks for the areas that are still default so we can leave these regions and not puke at the sight of crappy scenery. Adding Mesh and Landclass to FTXglobal will be like a makeshift ORBX region but no extra custom POI objects. Until OpenLC comes out. But Regions will STILL be the most detailed. It's all going to be about managed expectations. Sort of like my abs and Bicepts. LOL Charles. Adding all those add on would it make FSX a little heavy on Frame rates , am just saying because UTX has night light an i think Global will to . I have UTX North America but i have uninstall it until Global comes out . Just to make sure i have everything running correctly . Many say that when GLOBAL comes out it will be a ghost town in GEX Forum . I guest is because simmer will have to choose between GEX or GLOBAL because you can't used both . I still think GEX can manage to keep it customers happy even after Global comes out . Mr Leny CPU I7 8700K @ 5.0GHz , MOBO -Asus Maximus X Hero (WiFi AC),GPU - GTX1080 TI , RAM - CORSAIR Vengeance RGB 16GB DDR4 3600MHz SSD -Crucial MX500 1TB (P3D Install Only)OS- Samsung 960 EVO 500GB (Window 10 Pro 64)
