FTX Global delayed to next week

Featured Replies

Am just happy is not default FSX i know is texture just like REXE + PLUS when they added Overdrive to it , it was clearly new textures being added . I know what global is am just happy is not default it makes you want to fly all over the world. For example i have never fly around Russia , but after seeing what orbx did over there am thinking on flying there when Global comes out . Am just happy with the change that is all . Am sure other simmers are to . :D

Adding all those add on would it make FSX a little heavy on Frame rates , am just saying because UTX has night light an i think Global will to . I have UTX North America but i have uninstall it until Global comes out . Just to make sure i have everything running correctly .

Mesh will have nearly no impact and is optional anyway. Changes shape of the ground. Nothing more. As for UTX, they will recommend you disable UTX lights when ORBX is enabled. Possibly a few other things as well. Always was the case with ORBX and UTX. They can coexist. Only UTX lights had an impact.

I know an both are amazing product. I like UTX the night light are amazing specially when you fly in LAS VEGAS coming in for a evening landing right after sunset .

True. But more importantly: people just don't READ! I've seen numerous posts here and also (specially) on the Orbx forum where people asked things that were already answered in that same topic, sometimes in the posts right above theirs... A lot of people quickly scan a topic or even skip that and then simply ask what they wanted to ask when they got to that topic. It's AMAZING to see how often people post about for instance 'included POI's' and other things that simply won't be there in FTXG.

I am VERY excited about FTXG but I KNOW what it is and isn't. I mainly fly in Norway and so I have excellent freeware installed for that region and I am excited about FTXG because I know how it will augment that freeware. I won't be uninstalling the freeware expecting FTXG to do the job! (FTX Norway South will do that.) But until then I need the freeware mesh, land class and airports in order to make Norway flyable. And this goes for the entire world. Orbx will add some landclass for neglected parts of the world, but to really make FTXG shine, you indeed need at least UTX (or something like OpenVFR) and (depending on the UTX region) a landclass addon.

It's the combination of the Norway freeware and FTXG I am excited about. If I would only be able to get FTXG to enhance FSX I would be happy with it but not excited.

(BTW If Orbx hadn't announced OpenLC I would also already have installed UTX Europe but I've just done a complete reinstall of my PC and FSX and I like to keep things clean and so before I install UTX I would like to see what OpenLC does to Norway... but since that may take quite some time I probably end up installing UTX Europe anyway.)

if your mainly flying Norway why wouldn't you just get ORBX Europe? it would be 10 times better than Global which as the name implies is suited for those flying a very large section of scenery.

Get XPX instead at least got platform that improves with time. This is gonna be big letdown for some, and make sone happy as they are sick at looking at fsx default textures since 2006.

Let me know when XPX has something besides a "plausible world" with no city landclass tiles and crazy inaccruate autogen placement, a decent ATC system, seasons, waterclass so every water body isn't black, an AI system that works and can be expanded by 3rd parties, some PMDG quality airliners, etc. and I'll gladly make the switch.

Until then, I have to keep dressing up FSX. And believe me, I'd much rather XPX be a complete product and use it. But now it's not for my needs.

Will there be a demo of FTX Global? It would be interesting to see how it looks like.

Let me guest you are not purchasing FTX Global right ? You are more a GEX guy right ?

I've been following this thread, and also think that there are quite a few that think this will be the 'second coming' for FSX. From what I see, and I have the latest GEX being driven by UTX, it will be a great compliment and blend, to the more detailed custom regional ORBX scenery. It will not be as also a few pointed out...the poor man's ORBX regional. It will be a background 'compliment' to them and populate the rest of the regions you do not have regional...with the ORBX 'look and flavor'.  That is my expectation, and I will buy it for sure. It also spurs competition, and that is also a great asset for the FSX community.

XPX with OSM combined with photoreal get 40 to 60 fps with autogen cranked compared with 30 fps. Careless about PMDG, I fly for freedom not a canned route. ATC use VATSIM. Never 100% accuracy with ethier see way more potential XPX even with its flaws. Autogen will improve with XPX it won't with FSX.

I won't just get ORBX Europe because it doesn't exist. ^_^ In case you mean why I don't just get the European FTX regions: there isn't yet one for Norway. There will be somewhere in the first quarter of 2014 and I will certainly buy that one. But it's also nice knowing the rest of the world will be looking a bit better too. I might fly to Sweden once in a while or I may go to a different place altogether. I do own England but I didn't fly too much out there and I have no need for Scotland and Wales. Nor both Irelands.

So I will get FTXG to keep me entertained until FTX Norway South has been released but I am sure I will be flying in other parts of the world too every now and then so it certainly won't be a waste of money. Buying every available FTX region would be a waste of money for me.

Yes, but it looks like ######. :P If XPX is so good, why do you spend so much time in the FSX forum, I wonder? ^_^

Let it go, gizmosellsbunnys. Have fun with what you enjoy and let us have fun with what we enjoy. B)

As you know, I have both, and think that FSX will provide for many (and I include myself in this statement) the much better 'VFR world depiction' over XPX with their 'as it stands' plausible populated world and the use of 3rd party updated OSM files. If ORBX creates XPX-Global, it will make XPX killer, and a lot more FSX'ers will migrate or as we, enjoy an added franchise, who are dedicated VFR'ers.

Imagine, XPX-Global (yeah..fictitious to date) :( , and XPX's superior 'night life'.... now THAT would be a pulse-accelerated episode! I hope that ORBX sees that as well. I will always enjoy both, along with FS9, but again, hoping that ORBX steps into the XP franchise sooner, than later. They put out great products, hand's down!

Until they do, though, I'll still enjoy every drop they provide within FSX. :)

Both platforms, graphic wise are not dead. FSX, that way is very much alive and supported. The code (as far as we all know...) will not change from it's older-than-dirt 32 bit base. XPX is being coded, tweaked, and supported in current real time. That to myself, is the main difference in platforms. XPX will eventually be on par with the visuals (global) as is FSX will be sometime next week. In going with, and really enjoying XPX, I have certainly not 'thrown the baby out with the bath water...' and will fly FSX, and FS9 alongside it. FSX has its very strong points...but (large smile as I type...) so do XPX and FS9. It's all good, man....all good, and no need for a user to cut themselves off from any of it. Long live the Three Musketeers, FSX.XPX, FS9! FS9,XPX,FSX, XPX,FSX,FS9!

So what you are going to do with GEX when global comes out ? JV said you can't run both GEX an Global because both do the same thing . So is GEX or Global as i see it  . Just hope people don't forget about GEX when global comes out . I know for sure GEX user like myself will stop using GEX for a while when FTX Global comes out .  :/

Buying every available FTX region would be a waste of money for me.

As much as I would love to experience the other zones, I just can't afford to do so. I'm limiting myself to North America FTX regions because that's where I live, and because paper charts covering it are readily and cheaply available (I'm old-school that way). But I'll buy FTX Global to improve the parts of NA not covered by FTX regions yet, as well as for those occasional flights elsewhere.

I expect there will be some degree of change there... either price reductions to make it more competitive with FTX Global's price-point, or maybe even a "GEX 2.0" product announcement offering improved textures.

Either way, competition is good for the consumer.

Sticking with the modified textures I'm already using. Just about every place I currently fly is already covered by FTX regional scenery which is way better than FTX Global. Some of the GEX/FTX textures I currently use in non-FTX regions are just fine thank you.
