August 7, 201312 yr I activated a new install of FSX and Acceleration on Saturday but this is from today. http://flightsimcentre.org/forum/topic/microsoft-have-stopped-activations-on-fsx My MSFS 2020 repaints: Flightsim.to - Profile of HStreet Working on MSFS 2024 versions.
August 7, 201312 yr This is from 2009, here is a quote from the same page: As we all know, Microsoft stopped support for our beloved sim last year.
August 7, 201312 yr Uh-Oh ... could someone describe, in some detail how to back up your MSFS install and registry, as described in the article? This is from 2009, here is a quote from the same page: I don't think so ... Microsoft was still activating FSX about 4 months ago, at least, through the internet. I've always felt we were one Microsoft update away from FSX not working on our computers. Dennis Trawick Screen Shot Forum Rules
August 7, 201312 yr I guess they better take all those copies of FSX off of the store shelves. I can't believe that they shut down the activation servers for a product they are still selling. regards, Joe The best gift you can give your children is your time.
August 7, 201312 yr I sure hope this is wrong.... I just got a sick feeling in my stomach!!! If MS is that ignorant to do that to everyone and not to mention the ripple effect on Devs.. They are in for the fight of their life. It's one thing to to stop developing MSFS, but as long as Microsoft exists, they can't be that stupid! At this point, they should let all the money spent on the product for us to enjoy for as long as we want to. They are the ones who dropped the ball on it, not us. I'm sure they did not do very well, but after all these years, just let it be and make the activation system generic so all the paid for software can be used without the politics. Sorry for the rant, but man, that thought just really annoys me to no end! Best, Jeff
August 7, 201312 yr So I know I have seen stuff posted about this in the past but I never paid much attention to it then. Now, I'm thinking about doing a re-build of Win7/FSX. Is that possible? Can we re-install FSX after wiping our computers O/S and all? Regards, Kevin LaMal "Facts Don't Care About Your Feelings" - Shapiro2024

I hope someone posts how to do that. I'm afraid of opening FSX now, lest it crashes and I lose it. Dennis Trawick Screen Shot Forum Rules
August 7, 201312 yr I reinstalled FSX + Acceleration just yesterday and it activated just fine. It would be a sad day if they ever shut it down.
August 7, 201312 yr I don't see them doing it at all. I think even someone once got confirmation that support does not mean the same as activation. They don't have a dedicated FSX activation team, they just have activation crews that work. I don't see this as an issue at all. Sent from my Apple communications device. William Sequeira
August 7, 201312 yr I also did a clean install of fsx/acceleration a few days ago. No problem with activation. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 4
August 7, 201312 yr I think someone was putting in their license key in wrong, and just assumed that because there is no support, that you can't activate it anymore. It's something I'd do.
August 7, 201312 yr This balantly false long as you the have original activation key came with fsx cartridge you can install it just fine.
August 7, 201312 yr I installed FSX Gold + activated it about 3 weeks ago. Worked fine. I think that article is wrong... The only "online" thing that doesn't work anymore is Gamespy. Jeppesen weather, the home page browser, and activation still work fine. i7-6700K @ 4.5 GHz, 16 GB DDR4-2400 MHz, GTX 1070 8GB
