I know there's a lot of money in aviation because I put it there.

You know what Ron, ever since I changed my old computer which had a green light, to one with a blue light, I have been able to run FSX successfully.  I wonder how many other people have noticed the true wisdom in your signature?

Over 10 years here and AVSIM is still my favourite FS site :-)

The best tweak is always in your brain! Just say - I don't need a super realistic plane, super detailed airports and scenery, bunch of addons... just enjoy flying! You want all that with fps over 30? Not going to happen soon. :P

So:

but one thing that I noticed reading the latest version of "the FSX Bible" by NickN was that he does not recommend ( nor does it tell not to use ) that AffinityMask in your FSX.CFG?

I have long been using the value 14 (I own an i5 2500 processor), but I might try erasing that entry from my P3D cfg ...

If you are using Win7 or Win8 x64, you are usually better off letting the OS handle how it assigns CPU resources to each app. Using the affinity mask can help, especially if you have a bunch of add-ons and you want them each to run isolated to one core. The easiest way to consistently do that is to use FSXAssist. The harder way is to use Microsoft's Task manager replacement, Process Explorer. But then every time you boot up, you have to remember and set both your affinity and priority settings for each sim-related app.

Its from Ye  Olde English Pub Motto setting " Don't let the Bar Stewards grind you down" sounds better in dog Latin

beertemp=cold

beerbrand=quality

weather=perfect

and the big one...

playpowerballlottery=win

(that one never works!)
